イングランドサッカー協会(FA)は29日、UEFAネーションズリーグ(UNL)2024-25に臨むイングランド代表メンバー26名を発表した。

ユーロ2024では決勝まで進むも、スペイン代表の前に敗れて準優勝に終わったイングランド。ガレス・サウスゲイト監督が辞任を申し出ており、今回は暫定体制で臨むこととなった。リー・カーズリー暫定監督は、4名を初招集。DFヴァレンティノ・リヴラメント(ニューカッスル)、MFモーガン・ギブス=ホワイト(ノッティンガム・フォレスト)、MFアンヘル・ゴメス(リール)、FWノニ・マドゥエケ(チェルシー)を選出した。
また、DFキーラン・トリッピアー(ニューカッスル)がイングランド代表からの引退を同日発表。MFジュード・ベリンガム(レアル・マドリー)はケガのために招集不可能となった。

メンバーには、FWハリー・ケイン(バイエルン)やFWブカヨ・サカ(アーセナル)、MFコール・パーマー(チェルシー)、MFフィル・フォーデン(マンチェスター・シティ)らが選出され、主力は順当に呼ばれている。ユーロで選外だったFWジャック・グリーリッシュ(マンチェスター・シティ)も呼ばれた。
イングランドはリーグB・グループ2に属しており、フィンランド代表、アイルランド代表、ギリシャ代表と格下のチームのリーグに。9月7日にアウェイでアイルランドと、同10日にはホームでフィンランドと対戦する。

10人目の代表100キャップへ、イングランド代表最多得点者のケインが偉大な選手の仲間入りに「引退したら大きな誇りに」

イングランド名SBのアシュリー・コール氏、今後は代表のコーチ業一本に…カーズリー暫定体制をサポート

イングランドサッカー協会(FA)は14日、アシュリー・コール氏(43)が常勤コーチ就任と発表した。 現役時代にアーセナルやチェルシーなどで左サイドバックとして活躍し、プレミアリーグでは通算384試合の出場数を誇ったA・コール氏。代表では2001年3月のデビューから107キャップを刻み、ワールドカップ(W杯)にも3度の出場歴を持つレジェンドだ。 そんな43歳は2019年夏に20年間の現役生活に終止符を打つと、以降はチェルシーやU-21イングランド代表、エバートンなどでアシスタントコーチを歴任。昨年10月からはバーミンガム・シティに舞台を移し、アシスタントコーチを務める。 だが、その傍ら、2021年夏から代表の方でもアシスタントコーチを兼務。イングランド代表のトップチームを暫定的に率いるリー・カーズリー氏はU-21代表で師事した間柄で、先の代表活動からフル代表の方でも帯同していた。 ここまでクラブレベルと二足の草鞋で指導者としての腕を磨くが、FAのリリースによると、これからはイングランド代表で男子選手育成に専念。当面はカーズリー暫定監督の専任アシスタントコーチとして引き続きサポートしていくという。 2024.09.15 16:25 Sun

イングランド代表落選の理由は?サウスゲイト監督がヘンダーソン&ラッシュフォードを語る「難しい決断だった」

イングランド代表のガレス・サウスゲイト監督が、ユーロ2024の候補メンバーを発表。落選した2人について言及した。 21日、イングランドサッカー協会(FA)はユーロ2024に向けたイングランド代表候補メンバーを発表した。 26名の本大会メンバーに対し、33名と大所帯となった中、これまでイングランド代表を支えてきたMFジョーダン・ヘンダーソン(アヤックス)、ストライカーとして活躍したFWマーカス・ラッシュフォード(マンチェスター・ユナイテッド)が候補にも入らなかった。 サウスゲイト監督はメンバー発表会見で2人について言及。ヘンダーソンについては難しい決断だったとした。 「彼は素晴らしいプロフェッショナルであり、決断するのはとても難しかった」 「彼は逃すことになるだろう。並外れたキャラクターであり、素晴らしい人間だ」 「決定的な要因は、彼が最後のキャンプで負ったケガだ。彼は5週間欠場したが、それ以来は試合での強度を発揮できていない」 ヘンダーソンは昨シーズン限りでリバプールを退団し、サウジアラビアのアル・イテファクへと移籍も輝けず、1月にアヤックスへと完全移籍。それでもサウスゲイト監督は招集を続けてきたが、3月の代表活動ではプレーせず、さらに負傷。その後チームでも欠場していたが復帰後のパフォーマンスが良くなかったという。 また、ラッシュフォードについても言及。こちらも難しい決断だったとした。 「難しい決断だった。我々がこれまでやってきたことの重要な部分を担ってきた非常に優れた選手たちのことを話している」 「マーカスだが、ピッチの同じエリアにいる選手たちは、より良いシーズンを過ごせたと感じている。それはとても単純なことだ」 ラッシュフォードは昨シーズンは30ゴールを記録していたにも関わらず、今シーズンはたったの8ゴール。調子が上がらないままシーズンを終えており、他にも良いストライカーたちがいるから当然の結果だとした。 2024.05.22 07:45 Wed

シュマイケル氏持論「イングランドには未だにシーマンを超えるGKは存在しない」
