アーセナルDFベン・ホワイトはイングランド代表でもうプレーしないのだろうか。
2021年6月に代表デビューを果たし、その夏にブライトン&ホーヴ・アルビオンからアーセナル入りしたホワイト。アーセナルでは本職のセンターバックでなく、右サイドバックとして地位を築き、今季のプレミアリーグでも開幕から3試合すべてにフル出場中だ。
代表にとっても堅実なプレーぶりに複数エリアをこなせるのも魅力的な選手だが、カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)で個人的事情を理由に途中離脱してから不参加が続く。ガレス・サウスゲイト前監督はまだチームを率いた頃、本人の招集拒否を明らかにした。
当時のチームで出番が限られる状況だけでなく、アシスタントコーチだったスティーブ・ホランド氏との確執も要因の1つとされるなか、代表がサウスゲイト前体制から舵を切ったことで、復帰の可能性が取り沙汰されたが、今活動でもメンバーから外れている。
今月から暫定的に代表の指揮を執り、連勝締めのリー・カーズリー監督もまだオーディションの身ではあるが、イギリス『BBC』によると、今後の活動でホワイトを呼ぶ可能性、そして本人と話をする可能性を問われると、こう返したという。
「(本人と話をする)予定はない。ノーだ。その件についてはメンバー選考の際に話をした。代表でプレーする資格のある選手なら、その全員にチャンスがある」
「私が知る限り、彼は連絡しないよう求めている。それが変わるのであれば、変わるだろう。ピッチのいたるところで真の競争があるのは大事。選択肢となる選手が多ければ多いほど良い」

トルコホームの1stレグをトルコが3-1で先勝していたなか、ハンガリーホームで行われた23日の2ndレグもトルコが3-0で快勝。2戦合計6-1の完勝でリーグA昇格を決めていた。
同試合ではチーム2点目を挙げたギュレルが1年前のフレンドリーマッチでも衝突が伝えられ、今回の再戦でもバチバチとやり合っていたソボスライに激しく詰め寄られた際に「黙れ」のジェスチャーを行い、小競り合いとなっていた。
ここまでであれば、試合中によくある揉め事として流されるはずだったが、試合後も怒りが収まらないハンガリー代表のキャプテンはハンガリー『Nemzeti Sport』がインスタグラムに投稿した当該のやり取りを収めた写真に対して、「1088」とのコメントを残した。
この数字はカルロ・アンチェロッティ監督の下、ポジション争いで苦戦するギュレルのマドリーでの今シーズンのプレータイムを揶揄したものとされ、物議を醸していた。
これに対して血気盛んな20歳MFも黙っておらず、自身のインスタグラムのストーリーズで反撃。「この男は冗談だ。6ゴールで黙るには十分じゃないのか?」とのキャプションとともに同じ画像とトルコの3-0のスコアを写した画像を投稿。
さらに、画像をよく確認すると、ハンガリーのスコアの下に「ソボスライ 1インスタグラムコメント」と細かな加工も加えられており、痛烈に煽り返した。
ここに至る両選手の衝突の経緯はわからず、外野がとやかく言うべきではないが、ひとまず互いに冷静さを取り戻し、今後は場外戦ではなく改めてピッチの上で白黒つけたいところか。

スウェーデンサッカー協会(SvFF)は2日、UEFAネーションズリーグ(UNL)2024-25に向けたスウェーデン代表メンバー26名を発表した。
ヨン・ダール・トマソン監督が率いるスウェーデン代表。リーグC・グループ1に入っており、11日にアウェイでスロバキア代表と、14日にアウェイでエストニア代表と対戦する。
9月の2試合は連勝を収めていた中、トマソン監督は24名を招集。浦和レッズのMFサミュエル・グスタフソンは選外となった他、ニューカッスルのFWアレクサンダー・イサクも負傷のために招集されていない。

クロアチア代表の美女サポーターとして一躍有名となったイヴァナ・ノールさんが、新たな水着をプロデュースしたようだ。
カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)でクロアチアを応援する姿が多くのファンの目を惹いたイヴァナさん。14日に行われたUEFAネーションズリーグ(UNL)2022-23準決勝のオランダ代表戦にも、フェイエノールト・スタディオンまで応援に駆け付けていた。
自身のインスタグラムでは観戦時の写真だけではなく、自らが手掛けた新たな水着コレクションも紹介された。
アルゼンチンやイタリアなど、各国の国旗を模した大胆なビキニやホルターネックなどに加え、男性用やジュニア用も展開。イヴァナさんはもちろん赤と白の市松模様の水着を身に付けて登場した。
ラインナップは前述の2国のほか、アメリカ、イングランド、ブラジル、フランス、ドイツ、メキシコ、スペイン。モデルを務めた各参加者は、ソロショット以外にも恋人や家族風の写真も撮影した。

ベルギー代表FWロメル・ルカクが23日にホームで行われ、3-0で完勝したUEFAネーションズリーグ(UNL)リーグA/B昇降格プレーオフ2ndレグのウクライナ代表戦を振り返った。
3日前にアウェイで行われた1stレグで先勝を許したベルギーは、その試合からスタメンを7人と大幅に変更し、運命の2ndレグに臨んだ。
立ち上がりから主導権を握ったベルギーだが、前半はなかなか決定機を作ることができずにゴールレスで終了。後半に入っても攻め続けるベルギーは70分にデ・カイパーのゴールで待望の先制点を奪う。
このゴールで勢いづいたベルギーは、75分にデ・ブライネの左クロスからエースFWルカクが左足ボレーを突き刺し、2戦合計スコアをタイに戻す。さらに86分にも、ヴァナケンのロングスルーパスに反応したルカクがボックス右からダイレクトシュートをゴール左隅に流し込み、3-0で完勝。ベルギーが2戦合計スコア4-3でリーグA逆転残留決めた。
この試合で2ゴールを決め、逆転残留の立役者となったルカクはチームメイトやファンへ感謝を語った。
