ヨアヒム・レーブ監督は、GKマヌエル・ノイアー(バイエルン)やMFトニ・クロース(レアル・マドリー)、FWマルコ・ロイス(ドルトムント)ら主力を順当に招集。また、U-21欧州選手権で大会得点王に輝き準優勝の立役者となったFWルカ・ワルドシュミット(23)がフル代表初招集となった。
その一方で、DFニクラス・ジューレ(バイエルン)やDFアントニオ・リュディガー(チェルシー)、FWレロイ・ザネ(マンチェスター・シティ)らがケガの影響で招集外となっている。
