11日、2023-24 WEリーグが開幕する。

今季で3シーズン目を迎えるWEリーグは、新たにセレッソ大阪ヤンマーレディースを加えた12チームで行われる。昨季は三菱重工浦和レッズレディースが初優勝を飾り、センターバックの新境地を切り開いたベテランの安藤梢がMVPに選出された。ケガ人の復帰やピンポイントの補強で選手層は厚く、楠瀬直木監督継続のもと、今季も浦和は優勝候補の筆頭と言えるだろう。

一方、浦和と並んで3強と呼ばれるINAC神戸レオネッサと日テレ・東京ヴェルディベレーザは新指揮官を招へいして王座奪還を目指す。WEリーグカップではともにグループステージ敗退に終わっており、チームの完成度を問いながらの戦いになりそうだ。
リーグ全体の競技レベルは年々向上し、多くのチームが上位3強崩しを目論んでいる。今季のWEリーグカップ決勝に進出したサンフレッチェ広島レジーナとアルビレックス新潟レディースは、その最有力候補だ。また、マイナビ仙台レディースに加わった6名の新外国籍選手をはじめ、今夏多くの助っ人がリーグへ加入。オーストラリア&ニュージーランド女子ワールドカップ(W杯)や第19回アジア競技大会に出場した各選手のプレーも見逃せない。

ここでは各12チームの紹介と、それぞれの注目選手をピックアップした。多くの選手を知ってもらいたいとの思いから、昨季と異なる選手を選出しているので、前年度のプレビューも併せて参考にしていただきたい。
◆三菱重工浦和レッズレディース(浦和)
【2022-23シーズン:1位/17勝1分け2敗】

昨季の開幕直前には正GKの池田咲紀子が、シーズン開始直後にはDF高橋はながそれぞれ大ケガによる長期離脱に見舞われたが、GK福田史織やDF石川璃音ら若手の台頭やCB安藤が奮闘し、守備の不安を払拭した。他方、リーグ最多50得点を挙げた前線は今季もメンバーが変わらぬどころか、I神戸から伊藤美紀を補強。即座にチームにフィットした。唯一の懸念は現在参加中のAFC Women's Club Championship 2023 – Invitational Tournament(AWCC)との兼ね合いだが、各選手はたくましさが増している印象さえ受ける。遠征や海外クラブとの対戦は、連覇へ向けてプラスの方向へ作用しそうだ。

【注目選手】
●FW清家貴子
昨シーズンはリーグ戦全試合に先発出場し、チーム最多の12得点をマーク。サイドから仕掛けに加え、コンスタントななでしこジャパンの活動を経てフィニッシュワークも多彩になるなど、試合ごとに進化を遂げている。

●MF遠藤優
もともとは中盤サイドの選手だったが、右サイドバックにコンバートされて定位置を確保した。丁寧なボール捌きと位置取りの妙は、積極的な攻撃参加と相性抜群。

●FW島田芽依
ゴール前での決定力が大幅に向上し、昨季はリーグ戦初ゴールを含む8得点を挙げた。サイドハーフの新境地ではプレスバックにも磨きがかかり、ライバルの多いポジションの中でもパンチ力を備えたシュートは唯一無二だ。

◆INAC神戸レオネッサ(I神戸)
【2022-23シーズン:2位/13勝5分け2敗】

王座奪還を目指す初代女王は2年連続の監督交代を決行。WEリーグ初となるスペイン人指揮官、ジョルディ・フェロン監督を迎えた。ベースとなっていた[3-5-2]から4バックへ移行するなど、システムを含めた大幅な戦術変更に加え、伊藤美紀(→浦和)や阪口萌乃(→大宮アルディージャVENTUS)ら複数の主力選手が移籍したことで、WEリーグカップでは結果を残すに至らなかった。とはいえ、田中美南、髙瀬愛実という絶対的なフィニッシャーや守護神GK山下杏也加は健在。チームとしての完成度がそのまま順位に結び付きそうだ。

【注目選手】
●FW田中美南
2023女子W杯でも2ゴールと海外選手も背負えることを証明したストライカーは、チャンスの質が変わるであろう今季も自らの積極性を変わらず維持。今季カップ戦の東京NB戦で見せたシュート直前のボディフェイントは秀逸。

●DF松原優菜
主戦場だったサイドバックではなく、脇阪麗奈(→C大阪)に代わる組み立て役として中盤の底を担う、S広島Rから新加入の23歳。予測に長けたインターセプトと併せ、攻守でカギを握る存在に。

●MF北川ひかる
新潟Lから加入した左利きのサイドバックは、右の守屋都弥と並んでI神戸のストロングポイント。外に張ってウイング気味となるのか、内側に顔を出してよりゴールへ近づくのか、戦術の中での役割も興味を引く。

◆日テレ・東京ヴェルディベレーザ(東京NB)
【2022-23シーズン:3位/12勝6分け2敗】

昨シーズンは清水梨紗(→ウェストハム)や三浦成美(→ノースカロライナ・カレッジ)、今シーズンも植木理子(→ウェストハム)と、育成組織出身選手がリーグでの活躍を経て毎年のように世界へと羽ばたいていく東京NB。オーストラリア&ニュージーランド女子W杯でもなでしこジャパンメンバー23人中9名が在籍歴を有し、藤野あおばはゴールという結果も残した。一方で、優秀な人材の流出は編成における悩みの種にもなり、勝負所で勝ち切れずリーグ戦では2季連続の3位に。個性豊かな前線から新エースの登場と、勝ち方を会得することが名門復活への一歩となる。

【注目選手】
●FW山本柚月
年代別日本女子代表の常連アタッカーは、第19回アジア競技大会で優勝を経験。世界の舞台でも披露した果敢な仕掛けと積極的なフィニッシュで、攻撃陣を牽引する1人となる。

●DF船木和夏
守備陣の中で今季のWEリーグカップ全試合先発したのは、キャプテン村松智子と船木の2人のみ。早稲田大学での4年間を経てフィジカルにも自信をつけたサイドバックは、メニーナ出身らしく、組み立て時にも存在感を発揮する。

●MF菅野奏音
技術力の高い東京NBの面々の中でもひときわテクニックに長けた天才肌のゲームメイカー。昨季は離脱期間もあって無得点に終わったが、今季はカップ戦でセンス溢れるゴールをマークするなど、復活の兆しを見せている。
