先月末に候補メンバー34名が明かされていたクロアチア代表。この度、ズラトコ・ダリッチ監督は、その中からGKドミニク・リヴァコビッチ(ディナモ・ザグレブ)、GKネディリコ・ラブロビッチ(リエカ)、DFドゥイエ・チャレタ=ツァル(サウサンプトン/イングランド)、DFマリン・ポングラチッチ(レッチェ/イタリア)、MFヨシプ・ミシッチ(ディナモ・ザグレブ)、MFルカ・イバンシッツ(ディナモ・ザグレブ)、FWヨシプ・ブレカロ(ヴォルフスブルク/ドイツ)、FWアントニオ・チョラク(レンジャーズ/スコットランド)の8人を外し、規定の26人に絞った。

クロアチアはカタールW杯でグループFに所属し、11月23日にモロッコ代表との初戦に臨み、同27日にカナダ代表、12月1日にベルギー代表と対戦。また、直前のテストマッチではサウジアラビア代表(11月16日開催)と対戦する。

「史上最悪」「恥ずかしい」伝統の市松模様が史上最大サイズになったクロアチアの新ユニフォームには酷評の嵐「これ以上酷いものは見たことがない」
