カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)では連覇を目指して決勝に進出も、PK戦の末にアルゼンチン代表に敗れて準優勝に終わっていたフランス。ディディエ・デシャン監督の続投が決定していた。
一方で、GKウーゴ・ロリス(トッテナム)やGKスティーブ・マンダンダ(スタッド・レンヌ)、DFラファエル・ヴァラン(マンチェスター・ユナイテッド)らがW杯後に代表引退を発表。再スタートを切ることとなる。

ウェストハムが4選手の退団を発表!GKファビアンスキやDFクレスウェル、イングスらベテラン勢が契約満了

「退団はキャリア最大の過ち」 45歳ブッフォンがPSG時代を悔やむ

パリ・サンジェルマンのFWキリアン・ムバッペが、フランス代表からの引退を考えていたことを明かした。 カタール・ワールドカップの開幕が間近に迫り、先日発表されたフランス代表のメンバーに選ばれたムバッペ。だが、最近の『Sports Illustrated』のインタビューで語ったところでは、フランス代表を引退することを考えていた時期もあったようだ。 曰く、きっかけは昨夏のユーロ2020。ラウンド16でスイス代表と対戦した際、PK戦でシュートを止められ敗戦の原因のひとつとなってしまったムバッペには、サポーターから罵詈雑言を浴びせられた。SNS上では過度な侮辱的ツイートをした19歳の青年が後に有罪判決を受け、罰金を課せられるまでに。 ムバッペはその後、フランスサッカー協会(FFF)のル・グラエ会長と話し合いの場を持ったというが、人種差別について取り合ってくれず、サポートは一切なかったという。同会長に関しては、過去に「黒人プレーヤーがゴールを決めると、スタジアム全体が沸き立つ。フットボール界に人種差別はほとんどない」などの発言をしており、横行する人種差別に対して対岸の火事を装い、多くの非難を浴び続けている。 そのため、フランス代表のために戦う意欲を失いかけたというムバッペ。しかし、周囲と話し合った結果、「諦めることが正しいメッセージではないと判断した」と、引退を考え直したという。 「僕はみんなのお手本だと思う。これが新しいフランスだ。だから代表を諦めなかった。これは若い世代への『僕たちは強いんだぞ』というメッセージだ」 2022.11.11 20:15 Fri
