15日、2024-25シーズンのプレミアリーグ開幕を前に、「U-NEXT presents プレミアリーグ Kickoff Party」が東京都内で開催された。2024-25シーズンからプレミアリーグは日本国内で「U-NEXT」が独占配信権を獲得。7シーズンにわたって全試合をライブ配信することが決定した。
世界最高峰のリーグでもあるプレミアリーグでは、日本代表でもプレーする5選手がプレー。昨シーズンもプレーしたDF冨安健洋(アーセナル)、MF三笘薫(ブライトン&ホーヴ・アルビオン)、MF遠藤航(リバプール)に加え、MF鎌田大地(クリスタル・パレス)、DF菅原由勢(サウサンプトン)が加わった。
イベントには、サウサンプトンでもプレーした元日本代表FW李忠成さん、アーセナルの女子チームでプレー経験のある元なでしこジャパンのFW岩渕真奈さん、そして東京五輪、パリ五輪のスケートボード・男子ストリートで金メダルを獲得した堀米雄斗さんが登壇。MCは熱心なアーセナルサポーターでもあるハリー杉山さんが務めた。
イベントではプレミアリーグにまつわるクイズでリーグの規模を知ることや、2023-24シーズンのスーパーゴール集の映像などを放映。また、3人それぞれがプレミアリーグについて語った。
堀米さんは「どのスポーツでも最高級リーグ」とし、アメリカを拠点にスケートボード選手として活動する中で、サッカーの人気や市場規模は驚くものがあると語った。
また、注目選手についても李さんは古巣であり今シーズンから昇格するサウサンプトンをピックアップ。そして、今季からプレミアリーグにチャレンジする菅原をあげ「推さないわけがない。推し活です」と応援していくとした。岩渕さんも古巣であるアーセナルをピックアップ。選手にはイングランド代表FWブカヨ・サカの名前をあげ、「伝統あるクラブの生え抜き選手なので応援したい」とコメント。チームの彼岸の優勝のカギを握っている選手だとした。

「これは永久保存」世界レベルのDFルベン・ディアスが筋トレメニューを公開「めちゃくちゃ勉強になる」「トレーニングはベーシック」

アグエロがシティの歴史に名を刻んだ瞬間、プレミア初優勝を決めた93:20の熱狂
