15日、2024-25シーズンのプレミアリーグ開幕を前に、「U-NEXT presents プレミアリーグ Kickoff Party」が東京都内で開催された。2024-25シーズンからプレミアリーグは日本国内で「U-NEXT」が独占配信権を獲得。7シーズンにわたって全試合をライブ配信することが決定した。

世界最高峰のリーグでもあるプレミアリーグでは、日本代表でもプレーする5選手がプレー。昨シーズンもプレーしたDF冨安健洋(アーセナル)、MF三笘薫(ブライトン&ホーヴ・アルビオン)、MF遠藤航(リバプール)に加え、MF鎌田大地(クリスタル・パレス)、DF菅原由勢(サウサンプトン)が加わった。
イベントには、サウサンプトンでもプレーした元日本代表FW李忠成さん、アーセナルの女子チームでプレー経験のある元なでしこジャパンのFW岩渕真奈さん、そして東京五輪、パリ五輪のスケートボード・男子ストリートで金メダルを獲得した堀米雄斗さんが登壇。MCは熱心なアーセナルサポーターでもあるハリー杉山さんが務めた。

イベントではプレミアリーグにまつわるクイズでリーグの規模を知ることや、2023-24シーズンのスーパーゴール集の映像などを放映。また、3人それぞれがプレミアリーグについて語った。
李さんは「サポーター、観客」とリーグの魅力をあげ、自身も経験した中で「試合を作っているのはサポーター」と、熱狂的な各クラブのサポーターが魅力の1つだとした。FA女子スーパーリーグ(FAWSL)でプレー経験のある岩渕さんは「攻撃的なサッカー」と魅力を語り、ゴールを奪うことだけでなく、守備の面でも攻撃的な部分が見られると魅力を語った。

堀米さんは「どのスポーツでも最高級リーグ」とし、アメリカを拠点にスケートボード選手として活動する中で、サッカーの人気や市場規模は驚くものがあると語った。

また、注目選手についても李さんは古巣であり今シーズンから昇格するサウサンプトンをピックアップ。そして、今季からプレミアリーグにチャレンジする菅原をあげ「推さないわけがない。推し活です」と応援していくとした。岩渕さんも古巣であるアーセナルをピックアップ。選手にはイングランド代表FWブカヨ・サカの名前をあげ、「伝統あるクラブの生え抜き選手なので応援したい」とコメント。チームの彼岸の優勝のカギを握っている選手だとした。

堀米さんは「リバプール」とチームを上げ、「来週現地に観に行かせてもらいます」と、プレミアリーグ第2節、ホーム開幕戦のブレントフォード戦を現地観戦すると明かした。

いよいよ今週末に開幕を控えるプレミアリーグ。開幕カードは16日に行われるマンチェスター・ユナイテッドvsフルアムの一戦。今シーズンは『U-NEXT』で独占生配信。「U-NEXTサッカーパック」では、月額2600円(税込)でプレミアリーグの全試合に加え、日本代表MF久保建英のレアル・ソシエダ、FW浅野拓磨のマジョルカも戦うラ・リーガの全試合も視聴可能。見逃し配信や過去の試合、オリジナルコンテンツも視聴が可能となる。

また、U-NEXTの月額会員であれば、毎月付与されるU-NEXTポイント1,200円分を「U-NEXTサッカーパック」に充当することもでき、お得に視聴が可能となる。

英メディアがWEリーグの若手をピックアップ!なでしこ選出の藤野や石川含む「5人のライジングスター」

「かなりヤバい」「イカしてる」アーセナルが総柄の“派手”な新作ウェアを発表!レジェンドOBイアン・ライト氏に敬意「めちゃくちゃかっこいい」

イングランド訪問はリバプールのため?今夏注目のヴィルツ、複数のビッグクラブが関心もイングランドに心が傾く?

最下位セインツに痛いゴールレスドロー、グアルディオラ監督は相手の戦いぶりにイライラ｢守り一辺倒な上に時間稼ぎをしていた｣
