女子選手によるヒザの重傷が相次ぐなか、イギリス『BBC』は警鐘を鳴らしている。母国大会のユーロ2022を制し、7月に開幕を迎えるオーストラリア&女子ワールドカップ(W杯)でも初優勝を狙うイングランド女子代表。だが、開幕まで100日を切ったなかで暗雲が立ち込めている。

22日にスタンフォード・ブリッジで行われたUEFA女子チャンピオンズリーグ(UWCL)準決勝1stレグ、チェルシーvsバルセロナで、バルセロナのイングランド女子代表DFルーシー・ブロンズがヒザを痛めたのちに足を引きずりながら67分に途中交代。その後、アイシングをした痛々しい姿を見せた。
イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』などは、バルセロナの指揮官による「最初ルーシーは痛みを感じ大ケガを心配していたが、今は大丈夫だと話している。ヒヤッとしたが今は大丈夫だと思う」とのコメントを伝えているが、イングランド女子代表では長期離脱者が相次いでいるだけに、心配する声は多い。

19日にはアーセナルでもイングランド女子代表でもキャプテンを務めるDFリア・ウィリアムソンが、リーグ戦でヒザを痛めて途中交代。2日後にクラブから前十字じん帯(ACL)断裂と発表された。
ユーロで得点女王に輝いたFWベス・ミードも昨年11月に同様の負傷。FWフラン・カービーも2月に、DFミリー・ブライト(ともにチェルシー)も3月にヒザを負傷し、詳細は明かされていないが、戦列を離れている状況だ。

女子選手のACLのケガは世界的にも増加傾向にあり、今季だけでもオランダ女子代表FWフィフィアネ・ミーデマ、アメリカ女子代表FWマロリー・スワンソン、カナダ女子代表MFジャニン・ベッキーらが受傷。W杯断念を余儀なくされている。なでしこジャパンのメンバーでもFW千葉玲海菜(ジェフユナイテッド市原・千葉レディース)やGK池田咲紀子、DF高橋はな(ともに三菱重工浦和レッズレディース)がACL損傷の診断を受けた。

女子選手のACL損傷の数は男子選手の2倍から8倍とも推定され、これまでも議題にあげられてきたが、ブロンズの負傷を受けてイギリス『BBC』は改めて警鐘を鳴らしている。

同メディアはセント・メアリー大学に勤めるスポーツ医学の上級講師、カトリン・オクホルム・クリガー博士を招いた過去の記事を紹介。「これらが怪我の原因であるとは、はっきりと証明されていない」としながらも、「すべての分野が関連はしていると思う」と4つの項目を挙げている。

1.解剖学/バイオメカニクス-男女の身体的特徴の違い-
女性は一般的に股関節が広く、脚の角度が膝に向かって大きくなり、筋肉が発達していないため着地時に膝が曲がらないなど、リスク増大が考えられる。

2.ホルモン
月経周期中は怪我をしやすくなる可能性があると、提唱されている。関節の安定性に影響を与え、関節をより緩く弛緩させる可能性がある。

3.男女格差
女子選手は男子選手と比べ、構造化や指導されたトレーニングに費やす時間や経験の量、トレーニング年齢が大幅に低い可能性がある。また、使用されるピッチ状況のほか、スパイクのスタッド高が男性の動きに合わせて設計されていることも、可動域が異なる女子選手が芝に足を取られてケガをするリスクが高くなると指定している。

4.負荷量
女子サッカーの急激な発展により、試合の強度や試合数そのものが増加した。その中でも、回復時間が限られていること。

下手をすれば将来的に歩行にも支障をきたしかねない大ケガだけに、早期の原因解明や環境の改善が求められる。

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】

相手が恐れる右手…ストライカーの完成形と呼ばれた男、アラン・シアラー

「可愛い!」ペガサスに乗って宙を舞うイングランド代表FWサカの衝撃写真が話題沸騰「この男を愛さないわけにはいかない」
