結果は29歳で代表デビューのニクラス・フュルクルクが決めたゴールによる1-0の辛勝で、内容もミスが目立つものだったが、フリック監督はあくまでW杯初戦を睨んでの試合だと強調した。
「前半はいくつかの問題があったね。オマーンは技術のある選手をもってして素早く、信じられないほどよく攻めた。だが、これは親善試合であり、W杯初戦の日本戦に向けたステップ。気温にも慣れたし、すべてが順調だ」
こうして本大会前最後のテストマッチをやり終えたドイツの今後については「金曜日(17日)はフリー」と明かし、18日からの日本戦に向けた調整でオマーン戦とは違った姿のチームになると話した。
「土曜日(18日)に準備を始めたら、一人ひとりが日本戦に集中力を高め、違うチーム、違うフィジカルを披露してくれるはず。勝ち抜いていくためにはそれも必要だ」

開幕が差し迫ったカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)に向け、現地でいよいよ最終調整に入ったドイツ。23日に行われるグループE初戦の日本代表戦が刻々と迫るなか、16日にオマーン代表とのリハーサルマッチに臨んだ。布陣は[4-2-3-1]が敷かれ、マルク=アンドレ・テア・シュテーゲン、アントニオ・リュディガー、トーマス・ミュラーは揃ってコンディション不良で不在に。代表デビューの17歳ユスファ・ムココが1トップに入った。「前半はいくつかの問題があったね。オマーンは技術のある選手をもってして素早く、信じられないほどよく攻めた。だが、これは親善試合であり、W杯初戦の日本戦に向けたステップ。気温にも慣れたし、すべてが順調だ」
一方で「ディフェンス面は満足していない。W杯であんなプレーなど許されない。もっとフィジカルが必要。物足りなかった。ただ、誰しもの心のなかに少しばかり『健全な状態で初戦に』という気持ちもあった」と続けた。
こうして本大会前最後のテストマッチをやり終えたドイツの今後については「金曜日(17日)はフリー」と明かし、18日からの日本戦に向けた調整でオマーン戦とは違った姿のチームになると話した。

「察したら去る」 F・デ・ヨングが思うバルサ退団のタイミング…加入後のタイトル数にも言及

ドルトムントMFロイス、ヒザの問題でドイツ代表から離脱
