スペイン代表MFペドリ(18)がユーロ2020の最優秀若手選手賞に輝いた。
今大会における受賞資格は1998年1月1日以降に生まれた若手選手。
UEFAのテクニカル・オブザーバーを務めるファビオ・カペッロ氏、エステバン・カンビアッソ氏、ロビー・キーン氏、アイトール・カランカ氏、デイビッド・モイーズ氏など10数名の識者が、大会期間中の個人及びチームのパフォーマンスなどを基に選出する。
前回大会ではポルトガル代表MFレナト・サンチェスが受賞していた同賞に輝いたのは、スペインのベスト4進出に大きく貢献した18歳のMF。
大会前にわずか4キャップのペドリだったが、今大会では準々決勝のスイス代表戦のPK戦直前にベンチへ下がった以外、5試合で先発フル出場を果たした。
そして、スペイン代表を率いるルイス・エンリケ監督は準決勝敗退後に、「18歳のペドリが今大会でやったことは、誰もやったことがないものだった。アンドレス・イニエスタでさえね。信じられないことだし、唯一無二の存在だ」と、同選手の今大会におけるパフォーマンスを激賞していた。

アディダスが新たな「プレデター」を発表! 日本代表の南野拓実「ゴールを奪うための1足」、浅野拓磨「自分にピッタリ」

ペドリが後輩ガビとの関係語る 「チャビとイニエスタのようなコンビに…」

日本はスペイン&ドイツと同居、初戦はドイツ戦《カタールW杯》
