現役時代はイングランド代表のエースとして活躍したウェイン・ルーニー監督が、イングランド代表の指揮官にトーマス・トゥヘル監督が就任したことに驚いを隠さなかった。イギリス『BBC』が伝えた。

エバートンで鮮烈なデビューを果たし、その後はマンチェスター・ユナイテッドでエースとしてプレー。引退後は指導者にも転身しているルーニー監督。若くしてイングランド代表にも選出され、キャプテンも務め、最多得点記録も保持している。

現在はプリマス・アーガイルの監督を務めているルーニー監督だが、来年1月からトゥヘル監督がイングランド代表を指揮するという事実について言及。大きな驚きがあったとした。
「彼は非常に優れた監督だと思うが、FAが彼を雇用したことには驚いている」

ルーニー監督は、イングランド代表時代にスヴェン・ゴラン・エリクソン監督、そしてファビオ・カペッロ監督と2人の外国人監督の下でプレー。トゥヘル監督は史上3人目の外国人指揮官となるだけに、選手としてその状況は経験済みだ。
暫定的に指揮を執るリー・カーズリー監督は、世代別のイングランド代表で実績を残しており、U-21欧州選手権で優勝を経験していた。

ルーニー監督は、イングランドサッカー協会(FA)が指導者を育成している現状について言及。その中から新たなイングランド代表監督を選ばなかったことに驚いているとしたが、トゥヘル監督への期待も口にした。

「FAが築き上げてきたもの、そして私はその一員であり、彼らが過去10年、15年かけて築き上げてきたものを直接見てきたが、それは素晴らしいことだった」

相手が恐れる右手…ストライカーの完成形と呼ばれた男、アラン・シアラー

元ユナイテッドSDがFAに復帰…新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任

元マンチェスター・ユナイテッドのスポーツディレクター(SD)、ダン・アシュワース氏が、イングランドサッカー協会(FA)に復帰することになった。 FAは14日、アシュワース氏が新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任すると発表。同職ではイングランド代表の男女チームと緊密に連携していくことになるという。 昨年12月にユナイテッドのSDをわずか5カ月で退任したアシュワース氏。それ以前にはブライトン&ホーヴ・アルビオン、ニューカッスルで手腕を発揮しており、国内外のクラブからのオファーも想定されていたが、2018年まで6年間に渡って勤務していたFAに復帰することになった。 アシュワース氏は、セント・ジョージズ・パークの再開発を監督し、2028年に開催されるユーロ2028の共催に向け、競技施設とピッチの改善を目指す。 さらに、この新役職は、男子フットボールのテクニカルディレクターであるジョン・マクダーモット氏と緊密に連携するとともに、FAの最高経営責任者(CEO)であるマーク・ブリンガム氏とも連携する。 また、イングランド国内の地元出身のコーチの育成にも携わる予定だという。 2025.05.15 16:30 Thu

ユーロ予選に臨むイングランド女子、19歳GKキーティングがヒザ負傷で離脱…シティでは全試合に出場中

マンチェスター・シティとイングランドサッカー協会(FA)は4日、イングランド女子代表のGKキアラ・キーティング(19)がヒザの負傷のために代表活動を離脱することを発表した。 イングランドは現在、女子欧州選手権(ユーロ)2025予選に向けた代表活動中。5日にホームでスウェーデン女子代表、9日にアウェイでアイルランド女子代表と対戦する。 キーティングは今季のリーグ戦18試合全試合に出場し、7つのクリーンシートを達成。イングランド女子代表には昨年10月に初招集されたが、まだデビューは果たしてない。 負傷の程度は明かされていないが、シティとしてはリーグ戦優勝争いの真っただ中なだけに、軽度であることを願うばかりだ。 なお、キーティングに代わっては、年代別の代表で活躍しているサウサンプトンのGKケイラ・レンデル(22)が追加招集となる。 2024.04.04 21:25 Thu

W杯予選イングランドvsハンガリーのスタンドで暴動、逮捕者6名を出す事態に
