アジアカップ2023準々決勝が2日に行われ、韓国はオーストラリア代表と対戦した。

優勝候補同士の対決。どちらが勝ってもおかしくない試合展開となった中、試合は前半にオーストラリアがクレイグ・グッドウィンのゴールで先制する。

韓国も盛り返して行く中で、ゴールが遠く1-0のまま後半アディショナルタイムへ。試合終了が近づいていた中、ソン・フンミンが仕掛けるとこれがPKを誘発。ファン・ヒチャンがPKを決め、土壇場で追いつくことに成功した。

延長戦に入り互いに攻め合う中、韓国が押し込み続けると、延長前半終了間際にボックス際で韓国がFKを獲得。ソン・フンミンが魅せた。

オーストラリアのGKマシュー・ライアンもしっかりと壁に指示を出し、高さもある壁が構築。イ・ガンインとボールの近くに立ったソン・フンミンが直接ゴールを狙うと、壁の上を鋭く越えたボールがゴール左へ吸い込まれることに。ライアンも反応はしたが、間に合うことなくネットに突き刺さった。

赤地に白のホームは「霜降り肉みたい」韓国代表の新ユニフォームはアウェイの方が人気に「アウェイは素晴らしいね」
