31日、東京オリンピックの男子サッカーの準々決勝4試合が行われる。U-24日本代表がU-24ニュージーランド代表との一戦に臨む中、ライバルでもあるU-24韓国代表はU-24メキシコ代表との戦いを迎える。
そんな中、韓国代表のFWチョン・ソンウォン(24)のイケメンぶりにも大きな注目が集まっている。
大邱FCに所属するチョン・ソンウォンは今シーズンのKリーグ1で主に右サイドで起用され、13試合1ゴールをマーク。A代表経験はないものの、AFC U-23選手権タイ2020にも選出。4試合に出場しU-23韓国代表の優勝にも貢献している。
選手としても確かな実力を持つチョン・ソンウォンだが、最大の注目はそのルックス。K-POPのアイドルを彷彿とさせるような端正な顔立ちにお洒落な髪型で絶大な人気を誇り、自身のインスタグラムでは60万人を超えるフォロワーを抱えている。その人気もあり大邱広域市広報大使まで務めている。
韓国メディアによると、チョン・ソンウォンは「大邱のアイドル」と呼ばれ、自身が幼稚園児の頃に2002年の日韓ワールドカップでの元韓国代表MFパク・チソン氏がポルトガル代表戦で決めたゴールを観て、サッカー選手を志すようになったという。
25日に行われたグループステージのU-24ルーマニア代表戦で相手選手と衝突。治療しながらもピッチに戻った際にはその情熱と美貌まで大きな話題になったとのことだ。
チョン・ソンウォンはオリンピックでここまで2試合に出場しているが、そのルックスは日本でも注目を集めており、韓国の音楽グループ「BTS(防弾少年団)のメンバーにいそう」「神は二物を与えたみたい」「優勝」といったコメントが寄せられている。
U-24メキシコ代表戦では、韓国の結果だけでなくチョン・ソンウォンのルックスにも注目だ。

国際親善試合のサウジアラビア代表vs韓国代表が12日にイングランドのセント・ジェームズ・パークで行われ、韓国が0-1で勝利した。
前イタリア代表指揮官のロベルト・マンチーニ監督を招へいしたサウジアラビア。その初陣となったコスタリカ代表戦を1-3で落とし、目下5連敗中の中東の雄は今回の一戦で初勝利を目指した。
一方の韓国はカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)後にクリンスマン監督を招へいしたものの、就任以降3分け2敗の5戦未勝利とこちらも苦戦が続く。直近のウェールズ代表戦を0-0のドローで終えたチームはアジアのライバル相手に新体制初勝利を狙った。この試合ではエースのソン・フンミン、ディフェンスリーダーのキム・ミンジェに加え、ファン・ヒチャン、イ・ジェソンといったヨーロッパ組の主力がスタメンを飾った。
試合は立ち上がりから拮抗した展開となる。互いに後方から足元で繋いでいく能動的なアクションを見せるが、自陣や中盤で引っかかる場面が多く、中盤での潰し合いがメインに。

それでも、最少得点差のまま突入した試合最終盤はリスクを冒して前に出たサウジアラビアが、幾度か際どいシーンを創出。だが、新体制初白星に向けて気迫を見せた韓国がキム・ミンジェらの身体を張った守備でゴールを割らせず。

日本代表のDF冨安健洋が、韓国代表戦で起こったアクシデントについて言及した。
日本代表は25日、国際親善試合で韓国代表と対戦。DF山根視来のデビュー戦ゴールで先制した日本は、MF鎌田大地、MF遠藤航のゴールで3-0と快勝を収めていた。
この試合、センターバックの一角として先発フル出場を果たした冨安。チームのクリーンシートに貢献していたが、試合途中にアクシデントに見舞われた。
67分、ボールとは関係ないところで冨安がイ・ドンジュンにマークにつくと、振り払おうとしたイ・ドンジュンの左ヒジが冨安の顔面にヒット。口の中を切った冨安は流血し、一時的にピッチを離れていた。
この試合ではVARが導入されておらず、主審も全く見ていなかったこともあり、イ・ドンジュンにはカードも出ない状況だった。
このプレーには大きな反響があり、カードではないかと様々な意見が出たなか、冨安が自身のインスタグラムを更新。イ・ドンジュンから謝罪もあったとし、試合中には起こることだと見解を述べた。

マンチェスター・ユナイテッドで活躍した元韓国代表MFパク・チソン氏が、ファンが歌うチャントに物申した。クラブ公式サイトが伝えた。
かつて京都パープルサンガ(現京都サンガF.C.)でもプレーしたパク氏は、2005年7月にPSVからユナイテッドに加入。2012年7月までプレーした。
その間、プレミアリーグで4回の優勝を経験した他、チャンピオンズリーグ1回、EFLカップ3回の優勝を誇る。ユナイテッドでは、204試合に出場し28ゴール29アシストと結果を残し、レジェンドの1人となっている。
しかし、そのパク氏はファンが歌うチャントに不満を抱いており、自身が現役時代の頃から気にはなっていたことだと明かした。
そのチャントは、韓国人が犬の肉を食べるという文化を軽蔑した冗談が盛り込まれたチャントだ。
パク氏のチャントは「Park,Park,where ever you may be you eat dogs in your country. It could be worse,you could be scouse eating rats in your council house!」というもの。日本語に訳せば「パク、パク。君はどこにでも顔を出す。君の国では犬を食べる。もっとひどいかもしれないけど、君がリバプール出身なら、公営住宅でネズミを食べる」という歌詞だ。
パク氏を応援することに加え、ユナイテッドのライバルであるリバプールを嘲笑するもの。かつて貧困地域となっていたリバプール生まれの人(スカウザ)を煽り、韓国の古い文化である犬肉を食べるという文化を盛り込んだものだが、このチャントの歌詞は非常に不快だったという。
そして、このチャントはパク氏が退団した後も歌われ続け、8月29日の第3節ウォルバーハンプトン戦では、韓国代表FWファン・ヒチャンがいることから、歌われていたという。
パク氏はこれを聞いて、自身が抱えていた感情をユナイテッドの公式ポッドキャストで告白。ファンに対して、辞めてもらいたいと強く訴えた。
「彼(ファン・ヒチャン)がそれを耳にしたことは本当に申し訳ないと思う」
「私はその言葉を使わないようにファンを教育しなければならない。それは、最近の韓国人に対する人種的な侮辱にあたる」
「10年後の今でもちゃんとを聞いていると、当時感じていた不快感を克服しようとしていた若い自分を気の毒に思う」
「私は、アジア人や韓国人として差別され、そのような不快感に苦しんでいる若者にも責任を感じている」
「韓国では状況が大きく変わり、文化も変わった」
「ファンにはその言葉を歌うのはやめてほしい。韓国人がその歌を聞くと不快になる。やめる時が来た」
なお、ユナイテッドはこの訴えを受けて、パク氏を支持。ファンに対してパク氏の意見を尊重することを求めていくようだ。

レッドブル・ザルツブルクの投稿がファンの間で話題となっている。
5日、カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)のラウンド16の2試合が行われた。
アジア勢の日本代表と韓国代表がそれぞれクロアチア代表、ブラジル代表と対戦した。
オーストラリア代表とともに、史上初となる3カ国がアジアからベスト16に残っていたが、日本はクロアチアにPK戦の末に敗戦。韓国は前半に4失点を喫し、ブラジルに完敗して敗退となった。
ラウンド16でアジア勢が全滅してしまったが、ザルツブルクの日本語公式ツイッターが1枚の写真をアップして話題だ。
その写真は3人の選手が抱き合っているもの。背中を見せているのは、18番のユニフォームを着た南野拓実と9番のユニフォームを着たファン・ヒチャンだ。
共に5日の試合に出場し、悔しい敗退を味わった中、「私達の誇り」として写真を投稿。2人と抱き合うのはハンガリー代表MFドミニク・ショボスライだ。
3人は2019-20シーズンはザルツブルクでチームメイトに。その後、南野はリバプール、フアン・ヒチャンはRBライプツィヒ、ショボスライも後にライプツィヒに移籍し、現在は誰も在籍はしていない。
この投稿には「泣ける」、「1番グッときた」、「ザルツブルクありがとう」とコメントが寄せられている。
