女子W杯、各国登録選手が正式発表!最年長は40歳ナイジェリアのエビ、最年少は韓国の16歳FW

マルタ五輪とW杯に6大会連続出場のレジェンド/六川亨の日本サッカー見聞録
パリ五輪女子サッカーで、3度目の銀メダルを獲得したブラジル。過去のメダルも含め3度の銀メダル獲得に貢献したのが、背番号「10」のユニホームでチームを牽引したマルタだった。 今年38歳になる彼女のプレーを初めて見たのは08年の北京五輪だった。五輪はIOC=JOC(日本オリンピック委員会)の管轄下のため、フリーランスに取材のIDが出ることは基本的にない。サッカーダイジェストなどサッカー専門誌の記者やカメラマンも同様で、ナンバーなども含め雑誌社は雑協という組織から人材を派遣する共同取材という形を取ってきた(近年はインターネットメディアやネットTVなどの台頭でそれも変化してきていることだろう)。 そんなフリーランスがなぜ北京五輪を取材できたかというと、FIFA枠でサッカー単一競技に限って取材できるIDが出たからだった(これはリオ五輪でも出たが、開催国にFIFA枠はないため東京五輪は取材できなかった)。 前置きが長くなったが、初めてマルタのプレーを見たときの衝撃は「凄い」の一語だった。類い希なサッカーセンスで攻守に渡りチームに貢献。ストライカーとしてスピーディーなドリブルとしなやかなフェイントで対戦相手を翻弄した。とりわけ驚かされたのは、自分の身体を自分が思った通りに動かすことのできる身体能力の高さだった。 女子サッカーの選手にもスピードのある選手、パワーのある選手、フィジカルに優れた選手は数多くいる。ただ、プレーの意図は見ていてわかるものの、思った通りに身体を動かせない選手も当時は多かった。ワンテンポ遅れるのだ。しかしマルタは違った。意のままに自分の身体を操って、ハイパフォーマンスを発揮していた。 そんな彼女のことをネットで調べると、国際大会は03年のW杯がデビューでベスト8に進出。五輪は前回アテネ大会が初めてで、銀メダルを獲得していた。そのプレーから「女ロナウジーニョ」とか、「スカートをはいたペレ」のニックネームがつけられていたが、当時の彼女のプレーはまさに「女ロナウジーニョ」だった。 メキシコW杯が開催された1986年生まれのマルタは、18歳で04年アテネ五輪の銀メダルに輝くと、4年後の北京五輪でも銀メダルを獲得。五輪はその後も12年ロンドン(準々決勝になでしこジャパンに敗退)、16年リオ五輪、21年東京五輪、そして24年パリ五輪と6大会連続出場し、パリ五輪では3度目の銀メダルを獲得した。 しかしながらパリ五輪では最終戦のスペイン戦でレッドカードをもらい、2試合の出場停止処分を受けてしまう。マルタの五輪もここで終焉を迎えるかと思ったが、チームは3位でグループリーグをクリアすると、準々決勝で開催国フランス(1-0)、準決勝では優勝候補のスペインを4-1と撃破して決勝戦までたどり着いた。そして後半16分にピッチに立ち、有終の美を飾ったのだった。 残念ながらパリ五輪はノーゴールに終わり、五輪の連続得点は5大会でストップした。とはいえ、この記録を破る選手が今後も出てくることはまずないだろう。 W杯も03年の初出場でベスト8に勝ち進み、07年はチームを準優勝に導くと同時に得点王とMVPを獲得。その後も11年、15年、19年、23年と6大会連続して出場し、6大会通算17ゴールは大会記録である。昨年のW杯ではブラジルが初めてグループリーグで敗退し、マルタ自身も「これが最後のW杯になる」と引退を示唆した。 次回W杯は3年後の27年、マルタも41歳になる。そして開催国はブラジルである。過去ブラジルは、男子はW杯で優勝5回、五輪優勝は1回を誇る。ところが女子はW杯と五輪はいずれも“ランナーズアップ”に甘んじている。「サッカー王国」を自負するだけに、女子とはいえ自国開催だけにタイトル獲得は絶対条件になることだろう。果たしてマルタは現役を続行するのかどうか。なかなかニュースは入ってこないかもしれないが、彼女の動向は気になって仕方がない。 2024.08.16 22:00 Fri

元ユナイテッドSDがFAに復帰…新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任
元マンチェスター・ユナイテッドのスポーツディレクター(SD)、ダン・アシュワース氏が、イングランドサッカー協会(FA)に復帰することになった。 FAは14日、アシュワース氏が新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任すると発表。同職ではイングランド代表の男女チームと緊密に連携していくことになるという。 昨年12月にユナイテッドのSDをわずか5カ月で退任したアシュワース氏。それ以前にはブライトン&ホーヴ・アルビオン、ニューカッスルで手腕を発揮しており、国内外のクラブからのオファーも想定されていたが、2018年まで6年間に渡って勤務していたFAに復帰することになった。 アシュワース氏は、セント・ジョージズ・パークの再開発を監督し、2028年に開催されるユーロ2028の共催に向け、競技施設とピッチの改善を目指す。 さらに、この新役職は、男子フットボールのテクニカルディレクターであるジョン・マクダーモット氏と緊密に連携するとともに、FAの最高経営責任者(CEO)であるマーク・ブリンガム氏とも連携する。 また、イングランド国内の地元出身のコーチの育成にも携わる予定だという。 2025.05.15 16:30 Thu

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】

フレッチャーの16歳息子2人、世代別代表でスコットランドとイングランドを行ったり来たり…協会どうしが火花
マンチェスター・ユナイテッドOBの元スコットランド代表MFダレン・フレッチャー氏。その息子2人を巡って水面下で火花が散らされているようだ。 サー・アレックス・ファーガソン監督時代のユナイテッドに欠かせぬ汗かき役だったフレッチャー氏。クラブ通算342試合出場でプレミアリーグ優勝5回、チャンピオンズリーグ(CL)優勝1回、クラブ・ワールドカップ(W杯)優勝1回など数多のタイトルを獲得したレジェンドだ。 スコットランド代表としては通算80キャップを誇る同氏も現役引退から約4年。39歳となった現在は古巣ユナイテッドのテクニカル・ディレクターとして活躍中だ。そして、ジャック・フレッチャー(16)とタイラー・フレッチャー(16)という双子の息子の父親でもある。 ジャックとタイラーは2人とも幼い頃からユナイテッドの宿敵であるマンチェスター・シティの下部組織で成長も、今年8月、2人揃って父が愛し愛されたユナイテッドの門を叩くことに。U-18チームで己に磨きをかけている最中だ。 そんななか、ジャックはU-15イングランド代表として昨年4～5月にかけて3試合に出場し、9月に入ってU-16スコットランド代表入り。しかし、今年に入ってからU-16イングランド代表へと鞍替えし、継続的に招集されるなかで7試合に出場している。 また、タイラーは昨年からU-16スコットランド代表とU-16イングランド代表を行ったり来たり。活動ごとにユニフォームを入れ替えている状況で、今年2月にスコットランドの一員としてイングランド戦に出場も、4月にはイングランドの一員としてU-16日本代表戦に出場した。 マンチェスター生まれの2人はまだ16歳と若く、将来どちらのA代表としてプレーするかを焦って決める必要はない。ただ、イギリス『ミラー』によると、ここ最近のタイラーは再びスコットランドに気持ちが傾いているとのこと。心をイングランドで固めつつあると考えられるジャックと異なり、タイラーはまだ揺れ動く部分が大きいようだ。 その裏では、スコットランドサッカー協会(SFA)とフットボール・アソシエーション(FA/イングランドサッカー協会)がフレッチャー兄弟を巡って火花。A代表入りの可能性が膨らむ数年後を見据え、特大のポテンシャルを奪われないよう、水面下で攻防を続けているとのことだ。 スコットランド代表の元キャプテンを父に持つフレッチャー兄弟。ユナイテッドが宿敵シティからフレッチャー2世の2人を“取り戻す”ために支払った額は125万ポンド(約2億3000万円)で、最後は父自ら息子2人を懸命に説得したと言われている。 2人とも現役時代の父と同じくセントラルハーフ。今はまだプロデビュー前の16歳だが、フレッチャー兄弟を巡る注目度はこれからどんどん高まり、スコットランドとイングランドの綱引きも激化していくことだろう。 2023.10.25 17:09 Wed
