これだけの面々がケガに苦しみ、ワールドカップ(W杯)に出場できない。

20日に開幕を迎えるオーストラリア&ニュージーランド女子W杯。12年ぶりの優勝を目指すなでしこジャパンの活躍はもちろん、現地での盛り上がりも大きいマチルダス(オーストラリア女子代表)や、史上初の3連覇が懸かるアメリカに加え、個人ではブラジル女子代表FWマルタやカナダ女子代表FWクリスティン・シンクレアが前人未踏W杯6大会連続ゴールの可能性を秘めるなど、見どころは多岐に渡る。

一方で、負傷等によりW杯を断念せざるを得なかった選手も多数存在。プレー強度の向上や試合数が増加する中で、ヒザの前十字じん帯(ACL)断裂といった重傷のリリースも頻繁に目にするようになった。
『Bleacher Report Football』では、ケガによりW杯メンバーに選出されなかった11人+リザーブ10名を紹介。そうそうたる顔ぶれが並んだ。

女子ユーロの覇者、イングランド女子代表からはACL負傷の主将リア・ウィリアムソンとベス・ミード(ともにアーセナル)に加え、同じくヒザに問題を抱えるフラン・カービー(チェルシー)の3名が。男女通じてもオランダ代表最多得点を誇るフィフィアネ・ミーデマ(アーセナル)の不在を嘆く声は早くから上がっていた。
絶対女王アメリカもベッキー・サウアーブラン(ポートランド・ソーンズFC)やトビン・ヒース(OLレイン)が出場できず、東京オリンピック2020のメダリストであるカナダのジャニン・ベッキー(ポートランド・ソーンズFC)やスウェーデン女子代表のハンナ・グラス(カンザスシティ・カレント)がACL負傷の影響でメンバーから漏れた。

サッカーという競技の特性上、避けられない部分あるとはいえ、出場する各選手たちは大きなケガなく大会を過ごしてもらいたい。

1位に輝いたのは、アストン・ビラでプレーするスイス女子代表のアリーシャ・レーマン。世界一セクシーなアスリートとしても知られ、インスタグラムのフォロワーは1340万人。元プロテニスプレーヤーのロジャー・フェデラーを超え、インスタグラムで最も人気のあるスイス人アスリートとなっている。 イングランド代表のユニフォームが変? ファンが気づいた異変はベテランキットマンのまさかのミス…「間違ってしまった」

「可愛い!」ペガサスに乗って宙を舞うイングランド代表FWサカの衝撃写真が話題沸騰「この男を愛さないわけにはいかない」

フランスW杯の戦犯が…ベッカム史上最高のFKから20年「特別な瞬間だった」
