◆ストライカーの完成形

イングランド代表としては大きな輝きを放てなかったシアラーだが、クラブレベルでの活躍は素晴しいものだった。

プレミアリーグが発足した1992-93シーズンにブラックバーンへと移籍したシアラーは、21試合で16ゴール4アシストを記録。ケガなどもあり満足いく数字を残せなかったが、1993-94シーズンは40試合で31ゴール4アシストと得点を倍増させる。

さらに1994-95シーズンは42試合で34ゴール13アシストとアシスト数も増加。元イングランド代表FWクリス・サットンとのSASコンビでプレミアリーグ得点王に輝くと、チームを優勝に導くことに。ビッグ6と呼ばれるクラブ以外では、“奇跡の優勝”と言われた2015-16シーズンのレスター・シティと共にチャンピオンとして名を残している状況だ。

なお1995-96シーズンは35試合で31ゴール、ニューカッスルへと移籍した1996-97シーズンは31試合で25ゴールを記録し3年連続得点王に輝いていた。

当然その得点力にはビッグクラブが目をつけており、マンチェスター・ユナイテッドやバルセロナなどが獲得に動いたが、自身が愛する地元のクラブであるニューカッスルから離れることはなく、キャリアの終了までプレーした。

シアラーの特徴は、183cmと際立って大柄ではないものの、空中戦にめっぽう強く、ヘディングの技術は卓越したものがあり、多くのゴールにつなげた。

さらにシュートレンジも広く、様々なゴールパターンを持っていることからも、完成されたストライカーの1人として認識され、キャリアの晩年になってもゴールを決め続け、積み上げたプレミアリーグでのゴールは「260」。2位のウェイン・ルーニーが「208」と遠く及んでない。

そのシアラーの記録を抜く可能性を持っているのが、現在のイングランド代表のエースであるトッテナムのハリー・ケインと言われている。現時点で「167」ゴールを記録しており、記録までおよそ100ゴール。28歳のケインがプレミアリーグでプレーを続ければ間違いなく達成されるだろうが、イングランド人FWにとっての目指すべき姿として、今なお愛され続けている。

「高価な食べ物はない」ギネス記録樹立、C・ロナウドのあの肉体の秘訣を専属シェフが明かす

C・ロナウドと事実婚状態のジョルジーナさん、結婚について言及「いつか式が挙げられるはず」

「ニールセン・グレースノート」は出場する選手の中での、インフルエンサーとしてのランキングを発表。フォロワーやフォロワーの増加、エンゲージメント率など、インスタグラム上の投稿ごとの平均ブランド価値を評価してランキングを発表した。 トップ10が発表され、実に9カ国の選手がランクイン。アメリカ女子代表のみが唯一2選手がランクインしている。 1位に輝いたのは、アストン・ビラでプレーするスイス女子代表のアリーシャ・レーマン。世界一セクシーなアスリートとしても知られ、インスタグラムのフォロワーは1340万人。元プロテニスプレーヤーのロジャー・フェデラーを超え、インスタグラムで最も人気のあるスイス人アスリートとなっている。 イングランド代表のユニフォームが変? ファンが気づいた異変はベテランキットマンのまさかのミス…「間違ってしまった」

FIFA公式がロシアW杯ベストイレブンを発表! ヤングやパウリーニョら“クセがすごい”選出も…
