「観客動員が少ない!」オーストラリア・Aリーグが従業員の半数解雇で事業再編へ…今季の平均観客動員数最多はシドニーFCで「1万4097人」

財務危機のオーストラリア・Aリーグだが…最速で25-26シーズンから男子2部リーグ制導入の動き変わらず

オーストラリア代表のグラハム・アーノルド監督が、12日に控えるカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)アジア最終予選第4戦の日本代表戦に向けた会見に出席した。 ここまで3連勝で予選グループBの首位につけるオーストラリア代表。チームを率いるアーノルド監督は、現役時代にサンフレッチェ広島でプレーし、2014年にはベガルタ仙台を指揮した人物で、日本とも縁が深い。 日本について「非常に強い」と位置付けながらも、監督を含めて現在ファジアーノ岡山でプレーするミッチェル・デュークなどJリーグに精通する選手も多いため、日本については詳しいと自負。弱点について問われるも、「それを言えば愚かだ」とし、質問を一蹴した。 「日本はサッカーが強い国だ。Jリーグがスタートしてから長い道のりを経てここまで来た。私もサンフレッチェ広島で1997年夏から1年間プレーしたため、日本のことはよく知っている。我々の中には、現在日本でプレーしている選手もいるし、かつて日本でプレーしたことのある選手もいる。そのため、私と選手たちの日本に対する知識を合わせて、明日の試合は非常にエキサイティングなものになると思っている」 「我々は日本を長い間スカウティングしているが、ここで日本の弱点を言ってしまったら私は愚かだろう。我々が集中しなければならないのは自分たちのことだ。選手がフィジカル面とメンタル面で準備が整っていることを確認することが重要だ」 「そして明日は選手たちが素晴らしいパフォーマンスをしてくれると信じている。また、私は今までもこれからも決して引き分け狙いの試合はしない。必ず勝ち点3を取るための試合をする」 オーストラリアは日本よりも早い段階でヨーロッパへ選手を派遣してきた実績を持つが、長距離移動や時差への対処はメンタル面が重要とアーノルド監督は語る。また、選手たちが家族のような信頼関係を築いていることも、オーストラリアの強みのようだ。 「我々は1990年代から国際的にプレーをしている選手たちを招へいすることを続けている。ヨーロッパから招集されるのであれば、メンタルが強くなければならない。そうでなければ、飛行機に十何時間も乗って時差にも対処しなければならない厳しい状況に慣れることはできない」 「また、選手が家族のような文化を持っており、集まるだけでエネルギーが湧いてくるのだ。一緒にプレーをして一緒に楽しむことができるというのが、我々にとって非常に大事なことだ」 2021.10.11 20:10 Mon
