なでしこジャパンのFW浜野まいかも所属するチェルシー・ウィメンは13日、オーストラリア女子代表FWサマンサ・カー(30)との契約延長を発表した。新たな契約は2026年夏までとなる。
カーは、2019-20シーズン途中にチェルシーへと完全移籍で加入。以降、エースとしてチームを牽引した。
FA女子スーパーリーグ(FAWSL)では5度の優勝、女子FAカップで3度、リーグカップで2度の優勝など多くのタイトルをもたらし、UEFA女子チャンピオンズリーグ(UWCL)の決勝にもチームを導く活躍を見せていた。
2021年11月に2024年夏までの契約を結んでいた中、2023-24シーズンは1月に前十字じん帯を損傷し欠場が多くなってしまうシーズンに。契約満了となった中、新たに2年の契約を結ぶこととなった。
カーはクラブを通じてコメントしている。
「これからも努力を続け、トロフィーを獲得していきたいと思います」

「壮大で記憶に残る」ナイキのPVでムバッペvsロナウジーニョが実現!豪炎寺修也も登場で海外ファン歓喜
