元日本代表FWで、現在はベルギーのシント=トロイデンでプレーしている岡崎慎司が今シーズン限りで現役引退を決断したと知人からLINEがあった。(注:その後に引退が公式発表)

滝川二高から清水へ入団したのが2005年のこと。以来シュツットガルト、マインツ、レスターなどヨーロッパのクラブで活躍を続け、20年の長きに渡りストライカーとしてゴールを狙い続けた。マインツでは2シーズン連続して2ケタ得点を記録し、レスターでは主力選手としてクラブのプレミアリーグ初優勝に貢献。

174センチ、76キロと体格に恵まれていたわけでもなければ、飛び抜けて足が速いとか、華麗なテクニックの持ち主でもなかった。ひらすら泥臭くゴールに突進し、身体ごと押し込むようなワンタッチでのプレーが代名詞でもあった。日本代表の試合に出場するため帰国するたびに、身体が一回り大きくなっているのを実感したものだ。それだけ努力を重ねたのだろう。
2007年の北京五輪にU-23日本代表として国際舞台にデビューすると、翌年には日本代表にも選出され、代表初ゴールは2009年1月のアジアカップ予選イエメン戦だった。この09年は16試合出場で15ゴールを奪い、世界得点ランキング1位に輝いている。こうして2019年まで日本代表として積み重ねた得点数は歴代3位の50ゴール(119試合出場)に達した。

歴代1位は言わずと知れた釜本邦茂の75ゴールで、76試合に出場での記録だけに突出した得点率であることがわかる。2位はキング・カズの55ゴールで、4位が本田圭佑と「アジアの核弾頭」と言われた原博実の37ゴールだから、岡崎の数字がいかに凄いかを物語っている。
釜本やカズ、原らの記録は東南アジアの弱小国から固め取りをできた時代でもあった。しかしW杯に連続して出場するようになってから、日本はアジア予選でも1次ではなく2次から出場するなど対戦相手のレベルも上がっている。そうした中での岡崎や本田の記録だけに、1点の重みが違うと言えるだろう。

ちなみに森保ジャパンの得点ランキングでは、1月のアジアカップで2点を加えた南野拓実の20ゴールがトップで13位、伊東純也が13ゴールで21位、4得点だった上田綺世が11ゴールで25位タイ(原口元気や中田英寿、久保竜彦ら)、浅野拓磨が9ゴールで36位タイ(奥寺康彦、福田正博、名波浩ら)、1ゴールだった堂安律が8ゴールで43位タイ、三笘薫、鎌田大地、田中碧の3人が7ゴールで47位タイとなっている。

そして代表復帰を望む声の多い大迫勇也は25ゴールで9位、まだ現役を続けていて北京五輪のメンバーだった香川真司が31ゴールで6位にランクインしている。

岡崎慎司に続き、レスター“奇跡の優勝”メンバーがまたも引退決断…アンディ・キングが幼少期からファンだったクラブでプロキャリアに終止符「これが完璧な引退の仕方」

PSGのオーナーがスペインでクラブ買収か? スペイン2部のマラガに関心

パリ・サンジェルマン(PSG)のオーナーでもあるナセル・アル・ケライフィ氏は、新たなクラブの買収を検討しているようだ。『The Athletic』が伝えた。 アル・ケライフィ氏が率いるカタール・スポーツ・インベストメント(QSI)は、PSGの他にもポルトガルのブラガの株式22%を保有。また、F1チームのアウディやNABのワシントン・ウィザーズにも出資している。 『The Athletic』は「QSIは現在、ヨーロッパとアメリカでさまざまな投資機会を模索している」と、広報担当者のコメントを伝え、セグンダ・ディビシオン(スペイン2部)のマラガを買収する考えがあるという。 現在、マラガの株式の49%をスペインのホテル・不動産グループである「ブルーベイ」が保有。残りの51%はカタールの実業家アブドゥラ・ビン・ナセル・アル・タニ氏が保有している。ただ、クラブは経営破綻しており、司法の管理下にある状況だ。 かつては元日本代表FW岡崎慎司が加入するも、財政問題の影響で登録できず、ウエスカにすぐに移籍するなど、予てから問題を抱えている状況。新たなオーナーが見つかり、状況が改善するのか注目だ。 2025.03.27 16:55 Thu

奇跡のプレミア優勝も経験したヴァーディが13年過ごしたレスターを退団「信じられないほど素晴らしい時間を過ごした」
