「テレビで見ている何倍も大きい!!!」テレ朝の三谷紬アナが鎌田大地の高身長に驚き「これでも私ヒールを履いていました」

森保監督続投で歴代最長監督はというと…/六川亨の日本サッカーの歩み

まだ正式決定ではないが、森保一監督の『2年間の』続投が決まったようだ。正式には来年のJFA(日本サッカー協会)理事会での承認待ちになる。その頃にはコーチ陣などのスタッフの詳細も決定しているだろう。 93年のJリーグ誕生以降、日本代表の監督は基本的にW杯の4年サイクルで交代してきた。例外は94年のアジア大会で韓国に敗れたロベルト・ファルカン氏、97年のアウェー中央アジア2連戦で更迭された加茂周氏、07年に病に倒れたイヴィチャ・オシム氏、15年に契約解除されたハビエル・アギーレ氏、そして18年に解任されたヴァイッド・ハリルホジッチ氏の5人しかいない。そうした過去30年の歴史のなかで、初めて『続投』が決定的となったのが森保監督である。目標としていた「ベスト8」には届かなかったものの、大国ドイツとスペインに逆転勝ちを収めたことが高く評価されたことは言うまでもない。そこで過去の歴代監督の任期を振り返ると、上には上がいるもので、長沼健氏(元JFA会長)は1962年から69年までの7年間と、さらに72年から76年までの4年間、トータル11年間も日本代表の監督を務めた。「時代が違う」と言ってしまえばそれまでだが、おそらく2度と破られることのない記録と言っていいだろう。長沼氏が“長期政権"を担うことになったのには理由がある。64年に東京五輪があったからだ。このため62年に33歳の若さで監督に抜擢された。そして東京五輪ではグループリーグでアルゼンチンを倒して決勝トーナメントに進出。準々決勝で銀メダルに輝いたチェコスロバキアに0-4で敗れたが、ベスト8進出で日本に“第1次サッカーブーム"を巻き起こした。さらに4年後のメキシコ五輪では、アジア勢初となる銅メダル獲得の快挙を達成。その再現を半世紀後の21年東京五輪で森保監督は期待されたが、残念ながらメダルにはあと一歩届かなかった。長沼氏は69年のメキシコW杯アジア1次予選で、韓国とオーストラリアの後塵を拝したことで監督の座をコーチだった岡野俊一郎氏(元JFA会長)に譲る。しかし岡野氏が71年のミュンヘン五輪予選で韓国とマレーシアに負けたことで、日本サッカーの復権は再び長沼氏に託されることになった。ところが73年の西ドイツW杯アジア予選はイスラエル(当時はアジアに所属し、中東勢が対戦を拒否したため予選は東アジアに組み込まれた)とマレーシアに敗れ、76年のモントリオール五輪アジア予選も韓国とイスラエルに敗れて監督から退くことになった。当時の日本サッカーは、「W杯予選は負けても当たり前」であり、五輪予選で敗退するたびに監督は交代していた。Jリーグ開幕以前では、92年のバルセロナ五輪アジア最終予選で敗れた横山謙三総監督、88年ソウル五輪アジア最終予選で中国に逆転負けを喫した石井義信氏(故人)、80年モスクワ五輪アジア予選で韓国とマレーシアに及ばなかった下村幸男氏らである。しかし96年のアトランタ五輪に28年ぶりに出場して以来、五輪出場は7大会連続して出場。その間には12年ロンドン五輪と21年東京五輪ではメダルまであと一歩に迫った。もう五輪は出場するのは当たり前で、次の24年パリ五輪は「メダル獲得」がノルマになるだろう。同じようにW杯も98年以降7大会連続して出場中で、さらに2026年のアメリカ・カナダ・メキシコ大会は出場国が48に増えるため、出場権を失うことはまず考えられない。森保監督にとっては「ベスト8」への再チャレンジになるが、その前に横内昭展ヘッドコーチは磐田の監督に、上野優作コーチはFC岐阜の監督に転身するなどスタッフの陣容は一新せざるを得ない。果たして新たなスタッフの顔ぶれはどうなるのか。そこに外国人コーチが入るのかどうかなどは楽しみなところ。そして森保監督は、23年こそ秋まで親善試合しかない“静かな"一年になるものの、21年東京五輪は「金メダル」を目標に掲げながらも4位に終わり、カタールW杯も「ベスト8」が目標だったがラウンド16で敗退した。このため、まだ先の話ではあるが、24年のアジアカップでは『優勝』がW杯まで続投するためのノルマにすべきではないだろうか。 2022.12.26 22:00 Mon

「どんな時も味方として」中村憲剛が小学校卒業の長女への想い綴る…袴姿の2ショットは「良い写真」「2人の絆が感じられる」
