批判に訴えかけたソン・フンミン

アジアカップ2023の優勝候補の一角に挙げられている韓国。グループステージの初戦でバーレーン代表に勝利したものの、第2戦ではヨルダン代表と2-2のドロー。不安定な戦いには批判の声も挙がっていた。

ユルゲン・クリンスマン監督が就任してから、ピリッとしない時期が続いた中、25日にはグループE最終節でマレーシア代表と対戦。前半に先制するも後半に逆転を許すことに。その後、イ・ガンインの直接FKとソン・フンミンのPKで逆転に成功するが、後半アディショナルタイム15分にまさかの失点。3-3のドローに終わった。

二転三転したゲームだったが、一部ではラウンド16で日本代表との対戦を避けるために追いつかれたという憶測も。それ以外でも、3失点を喫したことを含めて、今大会守備が不安定なことにも、批判的な声が集まっていた。

試合を終えたソン・フンミンは、国内から出る批判について言及。批判的なメディアや、加熱するSNSなどでの批判をやめてもらいたいと語り、メディアにも協力してもらいたいと語った。

「大会の準備期間中にメディアの皆さんと話がしたかった。選手たちを揺さぶるのはやめてもらいたい。守ってもらいたいということを伝えたかった」

「でも、これまで話す機会がなかった。今更ながら、お願いしたいと思う」

「多くのファンが、オンライン、ソーシャルメディアで少し度を越えて発言をしてくるが、それをただ見守っていることが残念だ」

「全ての選手には家族がおり、友人、仲間がいる。そのような話を聞くのは心が痛む。サッカー選手である前に1人の人間だ」

「選手たちは満足させようと最善を尽くしている。もう少し選手を愛してほしい。メディアの皆さんにも、サッカーファンにも心からお願いしたい」

赤地に白のホームは「霜降り肉みたい」韓国代表の新ユニフォームはアウェイの方が人気に「アウェイは素晴らしいね」
