夢破れたネイマールが号泣…ペリシッチ息子が慰める

悲願のワールドカップ(W杯)制覇をまたしても逃したブラジル代表FWネイマールが試合後に感極まった。ブラジルは9日に行われたカタールW杯準々決勝でクロアチア代表と対戦。相手の堅守に手を焼いたブラジルは90分の戦いを0-0で終えたが、延長前半終了間際の106分に味方との2度のワンツーでボックス内に侵入したネイマールのゴラッソで先制に成功した。

ブラジルの英雄、ペレ氏が持つ同国代表歴代最多得点(77ゴール)に並ぶエースのゴールによってベスト4進出かに思われたが、チームは不屈のクロアチアに延長後半の土壇場で追いつかれてPK戦に持ち込まれる。そのPK戦では1人目のFWロドリゴ・ゴエス、4人目のDFマルキーニョスが失敗し、5人目と目されたネイマールにキッカーが回ることなく無念のベスト8敗退となった。
大会前に今大会が自身最後のW杯になることを示唆していた30歳FWは、PK戦後にピッチに座り込み、人目をはばからず号泣。その後、DFダニエウ・アウベスとDFチアゴ・シウバの重鎮2人に声をかけられて抱き起された同選手は立ち上がって歩き始めたが、涙は止まらず。

そういった中、ネイマールの元に駆け寄ったのが、クロアチア代表MFイバン・ペリシッチの息子であるレオナルド君だった。
当初、ブラジル代表のスタッフは背番号4のクロアチアのユニフォームを着用したレオナルド君をピッチへの乱入者と誤解したか、一度遠ざけようとしたが、少年は自身がペリシッチの息子であることを何とか説明できたか、ネイマールとの接触に成功。短い言葉を交わしつつ握手とハグを行い、ブラジルのエースを慰めた。

そのレオナルド君の心遣いもあってか、少し落ち着きを取り戻したネイマールは、チームメイトと合流してここまで献身的にサポートしてくれた母国サポーターのもとに挨拶へ向かった。

先日の日本代表戦では父親のペリシッチが悲しみに暮れる日本の選手を労う振る舞いが称賛されたが、偉大な父親の振る舞いはしっかりと息子に受け継がれていた。

また、自身を慰めようと駆け寄ってきたレオナルド君の心遣いに紳士的に応えたネイマールの振る舞いもやはり超一流だった。

UNLファイナルズ控えるクロアチア代表に痛手…グヴァルディオルが負傷離脱

「史上最悪」「恥ずかしい」伝統の市松模様が史上最大サイズになったクロアチアの新ユニフォームには酷評の嵐「これ以上酷いものは見たことがない」
