試合後にクロアチア代表の選手たちが見せた表情がピックアップされている。17日の3位決定戦で、グループFでも同居したモロッコ代表と対戦したクロアチア。7分にセットプレーからヨシュコ・グヴァルディオルのヘディングで先制すると、直後に追い付かれはしたものの、42分にミスラフ・オルシッチが見事なコントロールショット。これが決勝点となり、2-1で勝利を収めた。

グループステージではモロッコ、ベルギー代表、カナダ代表と同居し、2位で通過。ラウンド16で日本代表、準々決勝でブラジル代表をPK戦で下してベスト4進出を決め、準決勝ではアルゼンチン代表に敗れたものの、価値ある3位という結果に。1998年フランス大会の3位、前回のロシア大会準優勝に続き、出場した6大会のうち、3度目の入賞(残り3大会はグループステージ敗退)を果たした。
全日程を終え、表彰式には子供たちも参加したことで、選手たち非常に和らいだ表情を見せた。キャプテンのルカ・モドリッチが愛娘と両手を取り合ってはしゃぎ合えば、アンドレイ・クラマリッチも息子を"たかいたかい"。W杯の公式インスタグラムではそのほか、デヤン・ロブレンやマルセロ・ブロゾビッチらの親子ショットを「特別で忘れられない思い出」紹介している。

見る側も顔がほころんでしまう一枚には「クロアチアのチームの良いところは、2位であろうと3位であろうと、常に笑顔でいることです」、「We Are Croatia。いつも謙虚に」、「家族と国をとても誇りに思った彼らが真のチャンピオン」、「これ大好き」、「最高でした」、「子供たちはヒーロー、つまりお父さんが大好きです」など、種々の温かな声が寄せられている。

『ウイコレ』ガチ勢の有田哲平さん、山崎弘也さんがチーフ・オフィサー就任! 過去に世界一の山崎さん「寝ないでやっている」、リアル大会も開催

ライプツィヒがPSGの逸材CBビチャーブ獲得に迫る

ラポルテのアル・ナスル移籍が公式発表…移籍金は約46億円に
