チャンピオンシップ(イングランド2部)のスウォンジー・シティは14日、レアル・マドリーのクロアチア代表MFルカ・モドリッチ(39)がクラブの投資家兼共同オーナーとしてクラブに参加することを発表した。
スウォンジーのオーナーグループは、2024年11月に交代。ジェイソン・レヴィーン氏とスティーブ・カプラン氏が保有する過半数の株式が、アンディ・コールマン氏、共同株主のブレット・クラヴァット氏、ナイジェル・モリス氏、実業家のジェイソン・コーエン氏に売却されてていた。
今シーズンのスウォンジーは、現在チャンピオンシップで12位に位置。プレミアリーグ昇格の可能性は限りなく難しい状況となっている。
少数株主としてオーナーグループに加わることになったモドリッチは、クラブの公式サイトで以下のようにコメントしている。

21世紀の出場試合数ランキング発表! 首位は1145試合のC・ロナウド、トップ10に日本人選手がランクイン

スウォンジー・シティは2日、ウェールズ代表MFジョー・アレン(35)の現役引退を発表した。 スウォンジーの下部組織出身のジョー・アレンは、2007年7月にファーストチームに昇格。2008年10月にはレクサムへとレンタル移籍を経験すると、2012年8月にリバプールに完全移籍する。 ブレンダン・ロジャーズ監督の下ではゲームメーカーとしてプレーするも、ユルゲン・クロップ監督就任後は出番が激減。すると、自らが知らないところで移籍の話が進み、2016年7月にストーク・シティへと完全移籍する。 ストークで長らくプレーすると、2022年7月にスウォンジーに完全移籍してプレーした。 スウォンジーでは公式戦通算229試合に出場し11ゴール14アシスト。ストークでは221試合に出場し20ゴール18アシストを記録。リバプールでは132試合で7ゴール3アシストを記録していた。 プレミアリーグ通算199試合16ゴール11アシスト、チャンピオンシップ(イングランド2部)では292試合17ゴール18アシストを記録。タイトルはスウォンジー時代の2007-08シーズンのイングランド3部優勝のみとなった。 ウェールズ代表としても2016年のユーロや2022年のカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)にも出場し、76試合に出場し2ゴールを記録。2023年に代表引退を表明したが、2024年に電撃復帰。3月の2026北中米W杯欧州予選でもプレーしていた。また、2012年のロンドン・オリンピックではイギリス代表としてもプレーしていた。 ユース時代から過ごしたスウォンジーはジョー・アレンへメッセージを送っている。 「本人は常に謙虚にスポットライトや称賛を避けてきたが、スウォンジー・シティでプレーした最高の選手の1人として間違いなく記憶されるだろうし、ウェールズ代表の偉人の殿堂における彼の地位は疑う余地もない」 「スウォンジー・シティに関係するすべての人にとって、ジョーは常に我々の仲間の1人だが、ウェールズのサッカーコミュニティの多くの皆さんが、我々が「ディオルチ・ジョー」と言うだけで、私たちと同じ気持ちになることを知っている」 「クラブの全員がジョーの長年の貢献に感謝し、彼と彼の家族の引退後の幸せを祈っている。一度ジャックなら、いつだってジャックだ」 2025.05.02 21:25 Fri

スウォンジーが新エンブレムを発表!今季はプレーオフ決勝進出もプレミア昇格ならず
