26日にホームで行われたUEFAネーションズリーグ(UNL)のドイツ代表戦をもって今活動を打ち上げたイングランド代表だが、リバプールDFトレント・アレクサンダー=アーノルドの姿はなかった。

開幕まであと2カ月を切ったカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)。そのW杯前最後の代表ウィークだが、ヨーロッパからの出場国は今月の代表ウィークでUNLの戦いに身を置き、テストを重ねる。

それはイングランドも例外ではなく、攻撃センスこそピカイチながら、守備面の脆さが課題のアレクサンダー=アーノルドをはじめとする選手個々にとっても、最後のアピールチャンスだった。

ところが、ドイツ戦ではFWジャロッド・ボーウェン、MFジェームズ・ウォード=プラウズ、DFフィカヨ・トモリ、そしてアレクサンダー=アーノルドがメンバー外に。W杯招集も低くなったといわれる。

なかでも、以前から代表での立ち位置を巡って議論を呼ぶアレクサンダー=アーノルドのメンバー外は話題になったが、ガレス・サウスゲイト監督はW杯出場の扉を閉ざしたわけではないようだ。

イギリス『メトロ』によると、サウスゲイト監督はドイツ戦後、W杯メンバーとの因果関係を否定し、こうコメントしたという。

アレクサンダー=アーノルドが刺殺された12歳の少女へ哀悼の意「RIP AVA WHITE」

1位に輝いたのは、アストン・ビラでプレーするスイス女子代表のアリーシャ・レーマン。世界一セクシーなアスリートとしても知られ、インスタグラムのフォロワーは1340万人。元プロテニスプレーヤーのロジャー・フェデラーを超え、インスタグラムで最も人気のあるスイス人アスリートとなっている。アストン・ビラでは2シーズンでFA女子スーパーリーグ(FAWSL)で43試合に出場し7ゴール。スイス代表としても38キャップを記録している。 北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】
