好調レバークーゼン支えるグリマルド、28歳でスペイン代表初招集も? 前指揮官とはバルサ時代に軋轢

レバークーゼン不動の左サイドバック、スペイン人DFアレハンドロ・グリマルド(28)。A代表初招集の可能性があるようだ。スペイン『Relevo』が伝えている。

グリマルドはバルセロナの下部組織出身。ファーストチームには昇格せず20歳でベンフィカへ移籍すると、昨シーズンまでの7年間でクラブ通算303試合に出場し27ゴール66アシストを記録した。

チャンピオンズリーグ(CL)での経験も豊富な超攻撃的左サイドバックは、今季からシャビ・アロンソ監督率いるレバークーゼンへ加入しすぐさま定位置を確保。ブンデスリーガ開幕5試合で4勝1分けの2位と優勝候補に躍り出たチームを支え、第4節のバイエルン戦では圧巻の直接FKを叩き込んだ。

ベンフィカ時代からその実力はスペイン国内でも知られていたが、世代別の代表歴こそあれど、28歳にしてA代表未経験。スペイン代表のルイス・エンリケ前監督がバルセロナを率いていた2015年、ファーストチーム昇格を目指していたグリマルドがなかなかそのチャンスを貰えないことへの不満をメディアに漏らしたことが逆鱗に触れたためだ。

これがきっかけとなりベンフィカへ放出されたが、時は流れて2023年。『Relevo』によると、グリマルドはU-19スペイン代表時代に共闘したルイス・デ・ラ・フエンテ監督(現:スペイン代表)のラージリストに名を連ねており、レバークーゼンでの好調をキープすればお声がかかる可能性は十分だという。

スペイン代表の次の活動は10月12日に行われるユーロ2024予選第7節のスコットランド代表戦、16日に行われる第8節のノルウェー代表戦。DFアレハンドロ・バルデ(バルセロナ)とDFホセ・ルイス・ガヤ(バレンシア)の2人が左サイドバックの常連だが、ついにグリマルドが招集される可能性もあるかもしれない。

21世紀の出場試合数ランキング発表! 首位は1145試合のC・ロナウド、トップ10に日本人選手がランクイン
