アストン・ビラでスポーツ・ディレクター(SD)のモンチ氏による改革が始まっているようだ。イギリス『フットボール・インサイダー』が伝えている。

セビージャのSDとして世界的な名声を得たモンチ氏。「有望な若手を安く買い、ビッグクラブへ高く売る」のビジネスモデルを確立し、2000〜17年の在任時に2億7000万ユーロ(約425億8000万円)の売却益をもたらしたとされる男だ。

2017年の退任後はローマを経てセビージャへ戻り、今年6月からはアストン・ビラのSDに就任。セビージャがヨーロッパリーグ(EL)3連覇を成し遂げた時代の指揮官、ウナイ・エメリ監督と再びタッグを組むこととなった。
そんななか、アストン・ビラで昨シーズンまで分析官を務め、今シーズンからスカウト部門に配置転換されていたロビー・セルウェル氏が、自身のSNSでノリッジ・シティにスカウト責任者として招へいされたと発表した。

今季から選手補強に関わるスカウト部門、すなわちモンチ氏直属の部下となっていたセルウェル氏。しかし、モンチ氏はオーナーから「自分色のチームを構築していい」とSDとして様々な権限が与えられ、人事にも着手しているとのこと。セルウェル氏は切り捨てられたと見て良いだろう。
『フットボール・インサイダー』はこれを「モンチ革命が続いている」と表現。今夏スペイン代表DFパウ・トーレスやイタリア代表MFニコロ・ザニオーロ、ベルギー代表MFユーリ・ティーレマンスといった大物を獲得するなどビッグクラブ化の野望を抱く上層部が、モンチ氏の手腕に全てを託している格好だ。

アストン・ビラがスタジアム改修をスタート、ユーロ2028の会場となり5万人収容に変貌へ

バレンシアがバレネチェアを獲得…今夏ユーベからアストン・ビラに完全移籍

バレンシアは30日、アストン・ビラからアルゼンチン人MFエンソ・バレネチェア(23)を1年間のレンタル移籍で獲得したことを発表した。 母国のニューウェルズ・オールドボーイズの下部組織出身のバレネチェアは、2019年に加入したスイスのシオンでヨーロッパでのキャリアをスタート。その後、2020年1月にユベントスNext Gen(U-23チーム)に加入。セリエCに所属するクラブで主力を担うと、2022年11月に行われたパリ・サンジェルマン戦でユベントスでのファーストチームデビューを飾った。 ダイナミックなセントラルMFは昨シーズンにレンタル先のフロジノーネでセリエA36試合に出場し、今シーズンはユベントスのファーストチームでの活躍も期待されたが、ブラジル代表MFドウグラス・ルイスの獲得オペレーションに際してU-21イングランド代表MFサミュエル・イリング・ジュニア(20)と共にアストン・ビラへ完全移籍していた。 そして、今シーズンはバレンシアの地で研鑽を積むことになった。 2024.08.30 23:31 Fri
