今夏の戦力増強に精を出すアストン・ビラだが、その動きはまだ続くようだ。イギリス『デイリー・メール』が報じた。

昨季のプレミアリーグで一時期に上位をかき乱す存在になるなど、残留争いに巻き込まれることなく、最終的に11位でフィニッシュしたビラ。シンボルプレーヤーであるイングランド代表MFジャック・グリーリッシュの流失危機にこそ直面しているものの、昨季の流れを新シーズンのさらなる上位進出に持ち込もうと、今夏に積極補強を遂行している。

アーセナルも目を光らせたアルゼンチン人MFエミリアーノ・ブエンディアをノリッジ・シティからクラブレコードの移籍金3300万ポンド(約50億4000万円円)で射止めたほか、インテルからのフリー加入で元イングランド代表DFアシュリー・ヤングが復帰。さらに、先日にレバークーゼンからジャマイカ代表FWレオン・ベイリーの獲得合意を発表した。
そんなビラがマンチェスター・シティ行きの噂で揺れるグリーリッシュの退団にも備えて、次に着眼するのがサウサンプトンでFKの名手として名を馳せるイングランド代表MFジェームズ・ウォード=プラウズ(26)。移籍金2500万ポンド(約37億8000万円)の1stオファーこそサウサンプトンの門前払いを食らったが、2度目の入札を検討しているという。

グリーリッシュの売却で1億ポンド(約151億6000万円)を手にする様相のビラはそのほかにもノリッジ・シティのイングランド人MFトッド・キャントウェル(23)を狙っており、マンチェスター・ユナイテッドでプレーするイングランド人DFアクセル・トゥアンゼベ(23)のレンタルも画策。ただ、トゥアンゼベを巡ってはニューカッスルの興味がある模様だ。

アストン・ビラがスタジアム改修をスタート、ユーロ2028の会場となり5万人収容に変貌へ

2024バロンドールはロドリが初受賞! ヴィニシウスやベリンガムらマドリー3選手抑えての受賞に
