事件は6日に行われたプレミアリーグ第31節のマンチェスター・ユナイテッドvsマンチェスター・シティ。試合後にピッチからさろうとしたところ、トンネルの横の観客の1人がグリーリッシュを呼び止めた。
すると、近寄ったグリーリッシュに対してその男は平手打ちする暴挙に。警察が捜査に出ていた。
グレーター・マンチェスター警察によると、20歳の男性が逮捕されたとのこと。「ドロイズルデンのヘイブン・ドライブに住むアルフィー・ホルトが暴行容疑で起訴された。彼は7月にマンチェスター治安判事裁判所に出廷する予定だ」とし、「この容疑者は昨日オールド・トラッフォードで起きた事件に関連している」声明を発表した。
