カナダサッカー協会(CSA)は13日、アメリカ人指揮官のジェシー・マーシュ氏(50)が同国代表の新監督に就任したことを発表した。契約期間は2026年の北中米ワールドカップ(W杯)終了までとなる。

カナダ代表では2018年1月から指揮を執ってきたジョン・ハードマン監督が、2023年8月にトロントFCへ引き抜かれる形で退任。その後はアシスタントコーチのマウロ・ビエロ氏が暫定監督を務めている状態が続いていた。新監督に就任したマーシュ氏は、2009年に現役生活を引退すると指導者の道に進み、引退直後にアメリカ代表のボブ・ブラッドリー監督の下でアシスタントコーチに就任。

その後、メジャーリーグ・サッカー(MLS)のモントリオール・インパクト(現CFモントリオール)やニューヨーク・レッドブルズ、レッドブル・ザルツブルク、RBライプツィヒなどで監督を歴任した。

2022年2月からリーズ・ユナイテッドの指揮官に就任すると就任初年度は低迷していたチームをプレミアリーグ残留に成功させたが、積極補強して臨んだ翌シーズンは第20節終了時点で4勝6分け10敗の17位と低迷。成績不振を理由に昨年2月にリーズの監督を解任されていた。

ユルゲン・クリンスマン監督が退任してから監督が不在だった韓国代表の指揮官候補点されていたが、交渉が難航していると報じられていた。

ユルゲン・クリンスマン監督との契約をアジアカップ後に解消してから監督不在の韓国代表。新監督候補はいるものの、マネーゲームをする気がなく、大韓サッカー協会(KFA)は監督選定を慎重に行う方針のようだ。韓国『聯合ニュース』が伝えた。アジアカップではベスト4の成績を残した韓国。しかし、準決勝を前にチーム内で問題が発生。選手同士が衝突した中、準決勝ではヨルダン代表相手に2-0で敗れていた。それまでもクリンスマン監督の手腕には疑問符がついており、マネジメントの問題もあったために契約解除となった中、3月の北中米ワールドカップ予選ではU-23韓国代表のシン・テヨン監督が暫定的に指揮を執っていた。 6月の活動に向けて新監督を探しているKFA。新たな監督候補を11人リストアップ。韓国人で4人、外国人で7人をピックアップした中、外国人監督の3、4名に絞ったという。最終候補に対してランク付けをし、最も優先順位の高い人物から細部を詰めていく交渉をスタートしていくというKFA。最有力候補と見られていたのが、元リーズ・ユナイテッドの監督であった、アメリカ人指揮官のジェシー・マーシュ氏(50)と見られている。 KFAの幹部が4月にマーシュ監督とロンドンで会談していたことが発覚。ザルツブルクでは南野拓実も指導し、2019年から2021年まで指揮。オーストリア・ブンデスリーガで2度の優勝を経験している。その後は、RBライプツィヒでも指揮を執り、リーズで1年間指揮を執っていた。実力に疑いはないものの、問題は報酬面だという。KFAは代表チームの監督の年俸について150〜200万ドル(約2億3000万〜3億1000万円)を水準としており、税金を含めるとおよそ倍になるという。ただ、マーシュ監督がこれまでもらっていたサラリーはそれ以上となっており、その部分での交渉が今は詰まっていないという。韓国はアジア2次予選でグループCに入り、勝ち点10で首位。6月の2試合では最下位のシンガポール代表、2位の中国代表と対戦。予選突破はまだ決まっていない状況だけに、監督が決まらないと再び支障が大宇頃になりそうだ。 2024.05.13 17:55 Mon

ホッフェンハイムのペッレグリノ・マタラッツォ監督(46)が、母国アメリカ代表の新指揮官候補に浮上している。ドイツ『ビルト』が報じている。 2年後にカナダ、メキシコと共同で開催する北中米ワールドカップを控えるアメリカだが、先日のコパ・アメリカ2024では自国開催ながらグループステージ敗退。アメリカ合衆国サッカー連盟(USSF)はこの結果を受け、2018年から指揮を執るグレッグ・バーホルター監督(50)を解任した。その後、USSFはリバプールを退任したユルゲン・クロップ氏、カナダ代表のジェシー・マーシュ監督ら数人の候補への接触を図ったが、いずれも色よい返事は受け取れず。後任人事は難航している。そんななか、新たな有力候補に挙がっているのが、ブンデスリーガで経験を積むアメリカ人指揮官のマタラッツォ監督だ。 2010年から2017年にかけてホッフェンハイムの下部組織で監督を務めた同監督は、2018年以降ユリアン・ナーゲルスマン監督やアルフレッド・シュロイダー監督のアシスタントコーチを務め、2019年12月に当時2.ブンデスリーガ(ドイツ2部)に属していたシュツットガルトの監督に就任。就任当時3位に位置していたチームを2位で1部リーグに押し上げ、翌シーズンはブンデスで9位フィニッシュ。その後、成績不振を理由に2022年10月い解任の憂き目を味わったが、2023年2月から古巣ホッフェンハイムの指揮官を務めている。報道によると、USSFからすでにオファーを受け取っているマタラッツォ監督は就任に前向きな姿勢を示しているという。また、ここ最近クラブ内でごたごたが続くホッフェンハイムでは指揮官引き抜きに備え、リーベル・プレートを解任されたマルティン・デミチェリス氏、カールスルーエのクリスティアン・アイヒナー監督らを後任としてリストアップしているようだ。 2024.08.04 19:40 Sun

女子選手の意見を参考に配慮し白パンツを中止、ナイキが女子W杯出場13カ国の新ユニフォームを発表!
