シティユースで育ったフォーデンは、2017年にファーストチームに昇格。FWリオネル・メッシら、数々の名選手を指導した経験を持つ名将ジョゼップ・グアルディオラ監督をもってして「今まで見た中で最高の選手」と言わしめた。
シティ、そしてイングランドの未来として将来を嘱望されるフォーデンだが、2018年9月25日に行われたカラバオカップ(EFLカップ)3回戦のオックスフォード・ユナイテッド戦では、見事なゴールを決めている。
2-0とシティリードの92分、最終ラインのパス回しから、GKアリジャネ・ムリッチがDFジョン・ストーンズにパスを送る。ここからストーンズ、MFイルカイ・ギュンドアン、DFダニーロ、FWラヒーム・スターリングと立て続けに縦パスを通し、一気に相手陣内までボールを運ぶ。
フォーデンのゴールで3点目を奪ったシティが、そのまま3-0で勝利している。

メッシと妻は30年来の仲、幼馴染の2人が結ばれW杯で優勝するまで

「ここにメッシはいない」発言のイングランド代表DF、フェリックスとの会話を説明
