アストン・ビラのイタリア代表MFニコロ・ザニオーロは、ユーロ2024の出場が絶望的となったようだ。

今シーズン、ガラタサライからレンタル移籍でビラに加入したザニオーロ。しかし、ウナイ・エメリ監督の下で好調を維持するチームにあって中々思うような出場機会は得られず、プレミアリーグで25試合2ゴールを記録するも先発はわずか9試合にとどまっていた。

そんな中、14日に行われたプレミアリーグ第37節のリバプール戦は4試合ぶりのベンチ入りを果たすと、65分から途中出場。存在感を発揮したいところだったが接触プレーで足を痛めると、79分にピッチを退いていた。

イタリア『コリエレ・デッロ・スポルト』によると検査の結果は思わしくなく、微小骨折が確認された模様。今後さらなる検査が続けられるが、現状では少なくとも1カ月程度の離脱を余儀なくされる見込みとなっている。

これにより、6月から開幕するユーロ2024への出場も絶望的になった模様。元々今シーズンの不調によって選出が危ぶまれていたが、今回の負傷で代表選出の可能性は限りなく低くなったようだ。

ザニオーロにとっては失意のシーズンとなってしまっているが、本人は来シーズンにイタリアへの帰還を望んでいることもあり、ユーロ出場が叶わなかった場合に心機一転できるかが注目される。
