新監督を探す韓国代表がジェシー・マーシュ氏と交渉中…30日に最後の話し合いを実施か

新監督探しを続ける大韓サッカー協会(KFA)が、ジェシー・マーシュ氏(50)と交渉中のようだ。韓国『スポーツ朝鮮』が報じている。

韓国はアジアカップ2023で準決勝敗退となったことや、チームでの求心力低下を受け、2023年2月に就任したユルゲン・クリンスマン監督(59)の解任を発表。

すぐに新監督探しを始めた韓国代表は、これまでファビオ・カンナバーロ氏(現ウディネーゼ)やスティーブ・ブルース氏らの就任が噂されたが、現在まで後任監督は決まっておらず、3月に行われた2026年ワールドカップ(W杯)アジア予選ではU-23韓国代表のファン・ソンホン監督が暫定指揮官を務めていた。

今回の報道によれば、韓国代表の強化委員長を務めるチョン・ヘソン氏は現在、イングランドでマーシュ氏と交渉を重ねているとのこと。なお、KFAはすでに候補者を3人まで絞っており、マーシュ氏は第一候補であり、30日に行われる最後の話し合いで、早急に交渉をまとめたいと考えているようだ。

これまでレッドブル・ザルツブルクやRBライプツィヒなどを率いていたアメリカ人指揮官は、2022年2月にリーズ・ユナイテッドの監督に就任。就任初年度は低迷していたチームを17位に導きプレミアリーグ残留に成功させたが、積極補強して臨んだ翌シーズンも第20節終了時点で4勝6分け10敗の17位に低迷。

成績不振を理由に昨年2月にリーズの監督を解任されると、サウサンプトンやレスター・シティの監督候補に浮上したが、交渉がまとまらず現在までフリーの状態が続いている。
