オーストラリア女子代表のDFアランナ・ケネディ(マンチェスター・シティ)がオーストラリア&ニュージーランド女子ワールドカップ(W杯)の3位決定戦を欠場するようだ。オーストラリア『ABC』が伝えた。

マチルダスの愛称で知られる開催国のオーストラリアは、グループステージ開幕節となったアイルランド女子代表戦で1-0の勝利。第2節ではナイジェリア女子代表に2-3と逆転負けを喫するも、最終節では気迫で東京オリンピック金メダリストのカナダ女子代表を4-0と圧倒し、ノックアウトステージ進出を決めた。

ラウンド16ではデンマーク女子代表を2-0で下すと、準々決勝のフランス女子代表戦ではゴールレスからのPK戦で、激闘の末に初のベスト4進出。16日の準決勝イングランド女子代表戦ではサマンサ・カーが今大会初ゴールを挙げるなど会場を沸かせたが、惜しくも1-3で敗れ、スウェーデン女子代表との3位決定戦に回ることとなった。
前述の通り、ここまでの6試合中4試合でクリーンシートを達成しているオーストラリアだが、スウェーデン戦ではイングランド戦に続いて再び守備の要を欠くことになりそうだ。

『ABC』は、センターバックの一角であるケネディが、遅発性脳震とうのために最終戦を欠場すると伝えた。
準々決勝までの5試合すべてにフル出場していたケネディだが、イングランド戦ではベンチからも外れていた。フランス戦で相手エースのウジェニー・ル・ソマーとバッティングする場面があり、これが要因と指摘されている。

リーダーシップに加えて空中戦では抜群の存在感を示す背番号「14」だっただけに、高さに秀でるスウェーデン戦との一戦では難しい局面が訪れそうだ。

大宮でもプレーした元オーストラリア代表キャプテンDFニールが破産

▽元オーストラリア代表キャプテンで、大宮アルディージャでもプレーしたDFルーカス・ニール(38)が、イギリスで破産を宣告されていた。イングランド『テレグラフ』が伝えている。 ▽2014年にドンカスター・ローバーズでプレーした後に無所属となっているニールは、キャリアを通じて約4000万ドル(約42億6200万円)を稼いだとのこと。しかし、今年1月に破産を宣告されていたとのことだ。 ▽『テレグラフ』によると、ニールは米国の不動産投資やシドニーでのコーチング事業を行っていたとのこと。また、ウェスタン・シドニー・ワンダラーズのAリーグ加盟にも深く関与していたが、資金繰りが上手くいかず、返済が不可能となったようだ。 ▽イングランドでプロキャリアをスタートさせたニールは、ブラックバーンで名を挙げると、ウェストハムやエバートンでもプレー。その後はガラタサライなどを経て、2013年にはJ1の大宮でもプレーした。大宮退団後はワトフォードに加入。その後ドンカスター・ローバーズへと移籍していたが、現在は無所属となっていた。 ▽なお、今後数週の間に英国で聴取を受けるとのことで、その時に債務が判明するとのこと。また、どれだけの資金を回収できるかも現在のところは不透明のようだ。 2016.05.02 18:49 Mon

オーストラリア、2030年or2034年のW杯開催地に立候補へ

オーストラリアサッカー連盟(FFA)は12日、2030年か2034年のFIFAワールドカップ(W杯)開催地に立候補する計画を立てていることを明かした。『AFP通信』が伝えている。 オーストラリアは2022年のW杯招致に向けて、4500万オーストラリアドル(約36億6000万円)を投じたが、最終投票の結果、カタールに僅差で敗れていた。 しかし、2023年女子W杯をニュージーランドと共催し、2032年にブリスベンで夏季オリンピックの開催が決定したことを受け、2030年か2034年のW杯開催地に再び立候補することを決断した。 FFAで最高経営責任者(CEO)を務めるジェームズ・ジョンソン氏は、2015年に女子W杯を開催し、2026年にアメリカとメキシコとの共催でW杯を開催するカナダ、2014年にW杯を開催し、2016年にリオデジャネイロ五輪を開催したブラジルを引き合いに出し、2030年か2034年のタイミングでW杯を開催することが最適なものであると主張している。 「我々は2023年に素晴らしい大会(女子W杯)を主催する」 「ゲームのためにレガシーを引き継いでいくつもりだが、それをもっと有効に活用しなければならないし、それをうまく進めていくことで、より多くのFIFA大会に向けての足がかりにできるかもしれない」 「そして、それには流れがある。2015年に女子ワールドカップを開催したカナダはその11年後にアメリカ(とメキシコ)と共に男子ワールドカップを開催する予定だ。ブラジルは2014年にワールドカップを開催し、2016年にオリンピックを開催した」 なお、ジョンソン氏は2022年W杯が同じアジアサッカー連盟(AFC)に属するカタールで開催され、2026年大会がアメリカ、カナダ、メキシコの共催となることから、2030年大会はヨーロッパか南米での開催を予想。そのため、2034年大会の開催がより現実的であると考えているようだ。 2021.08.12 17:35 Thu
