元イングランド代表DFで解説者として活躍するジェイミー・キャラガー氏が、マンチェスター・シティのノルウェー代表FWアーリング・ハーランドに対してワールドクラスではないと言及した。 2022-23シーズンにドルトムントからシティに加入したハーランド。世界最高峰のリーグとも言われるプレミアリーグ挑戦1年目ながら、35試合で36ゴールと驚異的な数字を残すと、公式戦53試合で52ゴールを記録。チームの3冠達成に貢献した。 今シーズンもプレミアリーグで25試合19ゴール、チャンピオンズリーグで8試合6ゴールを記録。公式戦37試合で30ゴールと結果を残している。 圧倒的な得点力には驚かされるばかりだが、まだ23歳。そんなハーランドだが、キャラガー氏はまだまだワールドクラスの選手とは言えないとイギリス『テレグラフ』で主張した。 キャラガー氏はハーランドに対し「究極の贅沢なサッカー選手だ。彼が世界最高のゴールスコアラーの1人であることは間違いないが、まだワールドクラスの選手にはなっていない」と評価。「真にワールドクラスになるには、複数の包括的な特性が必要だ」と主張している。 キャラガー氏によれば、ハーランドの得点力は間違いなくワールドクラスだが、あくまでもゴールを奪っているという事実だけとのこと。選手としてはまだまだ未熟だという。 「過去20年間のプレミアリーグ最高のストライカー、ティエリ・アンリ、ルイス・スアレス、ハリー・ケインのことを考えてみて欲しい。彼らは得点したかどうかに関係なく、最大の試合に大きな影響を与えた。彼ら全員が世界のどのチームでもプレーでき、驚異的なストライクレート以上の貢献をすることができる」 「通常のプレーでは、ハーランドはまだこれらのストライカーと同じレベルには達しておらず、トップクラスのセンターバックとの最近の3試合で、ペナルティエリア内での彼の才気はあっても、そこから抜け出すにはまだ途中であることが確認された」 前述の通り、今シーズンも公式戦で30ゴールを記録しているハーランドだが、チャンピオンズリーグ(CL)のレアル・マドリー戦、プレミアリーグのリバプール戦、アーセナル戦とビッグマッチ3試合は無得点に終わっている。 シーズンを通してみても、プレミアリーグのトップ6に入るクラブを相手には、マンチェスター・ユナイテッド、チェルシー、リバプールを相手に6ゴール。アーセナル戦ではコミュニティシールドを含め3試合で無得点に終わっている。 「ヴィルヒル・ファン・ダイク、ウィリアム・サリバ、アントニオ・リュディガーがハーランドをいじめたが、トップディフェンダーとゴールマシンの対決は大々的に宣伝されたが、そんなものではなかった。両者はマッチアップというよりミスマッチだった」 「いかなる優秀なストライカーも、そう簡単に抑えられるべきではない」 「私の時代、ディディエ・ドログバは私が最も頻繁に対戦したワールドクラスのストライカーであり、その試合では私たち2人が異なる時期にトップに立った。それがストライカーとセンターバックの闘いのあるべき姿だ」 多くのワールドクラスのストライカーと対峙してきたキャラガー氏から見れば、ゴールを奪う能力はあれど、ビッグマッチでの影響力が小さすぎるということだろう。 「ファン・ダイク、サリバ、リュディガーは公には認めていないが、リバプール、アーセナル、レアル・マドリーはマンチェスター・シティの試合の後、彼らは皆、ハーランドを黙らせるよりもはるかに厳しい任務に直面したと信じてピッチを去ったに違いない」 ハーランド以上に周りの選手を抑える方が苦労するだろうという見解を示したキャラガー氏。ゴールを奪うことで高く評価されているが、それ以外の部分がいまいちであることに目がいっていないだけだと主張している。 ただ、ハーランドのゴールを奪う力は高く評価。「彼が得点しないことは非常にまれであることを考えると、シティにとっては完璧にうまくいっている。ハーランドが得点した場合のシティの勝率は88%。彼がゴールを決めたとき、チームはまだどの試合でも負けたことがない」とし、ゴールを奪えているからこそ評価されるとした。 そして、この先のキャリアについても言及。ただゴールを奪い続けて得点記録を破っていくだけなら良いが、トップクラスでプレーを続け、バロンドールを受賞したければ問題があるとした。 「彼の唯一の関心が得点記録を破ることであるなら、何も変える必要はない。もし彼がバロンドールを獲得してレアル・マドリーでプレーするという真剣な野心を持っているのであれば、問題があるかもしれない」 「飛躍を遂げ、同世代最高の選手の称号をかけてライバルのキリアン・ムバッペに真剣に挑戦するには、彼は自分のプレーにさらに力を加えなければならない」 「レアルのようなクラブでセンターフォワードとしてプレーするには、多機能でなければならない。カリム・ベンゼマは、ネットを探る能力を超えて深刻に過小評価されていた。今夏レアルに加入すると予想されているムバッペは、単なるゴールスコアラー以上の存在だ」 それは現代サッカーを牽引してきたポルトガル代表FWクリスティアーノ・ロナウドやアルゼンチン代表FWリオネル・メッシとの違いとも言える。2人は驚異的なゴール記録を持つだけではない理由から、2人でバロンドールを獲りあっていた。 キャラガー氏は「これ以上のフィニッシャーはいない」としながらも、「最終的には、ロナウドやメッシと同じように語られるにふさわしい完成品となる必要があるだろう」とコメント。ゴール以外の部分の成長が、トップに君臨し続けるためには必要だと考えているようだ。 2024.04.12 22:57 Fri

マドリー、“ネクストヴァラン”獲得へ! フランス期待の若手をリストアップか

「鶏デカすぎ」「ケンタッキーとのコラボか?」フランス代表の新ユニフォームにはビッグサイズのロゴが採用「巨大すぎない?」
