8日、クラブ・ブルージュがイングランド人指揮官スコット・パーカー監督(42)の解任を発表。チャンピオンズリーグ(CL)ラウンド16のベンフィカ戦で2戦合計1-7で敗退が決まった直後の出来事だった。

パーカー氏のクラブ・ブルージュ指揮官就任は昨年12月31日。国内リーグで首位と12ポイント差の4位に甘んじていたチームの立て直しを期待されたが、指揮したリーグ戦10試合で2勝6分け2敗と浮上の兆しは見えず、最後はCL敗退が決定打となり、3カ月未満での解任となった。
2019-20シーズンにフルアムを、昨季はボーンマスをチャンピオンシップ(イングランド2部)からプレミアリーグへと昇格させた実績を持つパーカー氏だが、昨年8月にボーンマスでも解任されており、ベルギーの地で今季2度目の解任という悲劇を味わうことに。

一方、今季のプレミアリーグに目を移すと、パーカー氏が現役時代にイングランド代表でともにプレーしたスティーブン・ジェラード氏(42)、フランク・ランパード氏(44)が、それぞれアストン・ビラとエバートンで成績不振によって解任されている。
プレミアリーグにイングランド人指揮官が少ないのは以前から懸念されており、現段階ではチェルシーのグレアム・ポッター監督(47)、エバートンのショーン・ダイチ監督(51)、ニューカッスルを率いるエディ・ハウ監督(45)の3人のみだ。

エディ・ハウ監督はニューカッスルを高みへと導く手腕を発揮しているが、ポッター監督が長期的にチェルシーを率いるかは未知数…ブライトン時代の評価を取り戻し、イングランドの40代指揮官たちの希望の光となれるだろうか。

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】
