「谷口彰悟(川崎フロンターレ)と板倉滉(シャルケ)の両センターバック(CB)は今、持ってる最高のパフォーマンスを見せてくれた。吉田(麻也=サンプドリア)や冨安(健洋=アーセナル)など世界基準でプレーしている選手たちとポジションを争ううえで、そん色ないプレーを見せてくれたと思います」

日本代表の森保一監督が安堵感をのぞかせたように、2022年カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)アジア最終予選の天王山・中国&サウジアラビア2連戦で勝ち点6を手にする原動力になったのが、谷口と板倉の両CBだ。

板倉は2019年から海外経験を積み重ね、昨夏の東京五輪でも主力級の重責を担ったが、谷口の方はこれだけ大きな国際舞台に2戦続けて立つのは初めて。そういう意味でやや不安視される部分もあったが、全く危なげない一挙手一投足を披露。持ち前のリーダーシップと視野の広さ、ビルドアップ能力をいかんなく発揮し、無失点勝利に貢献した。
「谷口はここ数年、勝たなければいけないチームにいて、対戦相手はほとんど川崎F対策をしてくる状況だった。主導権を握りながら慌てずどう守備を崩すかという部分は常勝チームにしかできない。そこはしっかり生かされた」と指揮官も過去J1・4シーズンで3回優勝の川崎Fのキャプテンを務める男の優位性を改めて痛感した様子だ。

確かに、中国・サウジ2戦を見ても、谷口の的確なパスの配球が攻撃の起点になるケースは少なくなかった。最終ラインから丁寧な組み立てを重視する森保ジャパンで生き残っていこうと思うなら、その武器を前面に押し出す方がいい。谷口は千載一遇のチャンスをモノにしたのである。
これで代表定着への布石を打ったのは間違いない。昨年9・10月の最終予選4戦でメンバー外から試合出場と一気に序列を引き上げ、カタールW杯行きの希望をつないだことで、本人にとっても「ここからが大事」と気合を入れているに違いない。

しかしながら、3月のオーストラリア・ベトナム2連戦からは不在だった吉田と冨安も戻ってくるだろうし、今回ややコンディション不良だった植田直通(ニーム)も復調すると見られる。2018年ロシアW杯組の昌子源(ガンバ大阪)の復活、あるいは東京五輪世代の町田浩樹(ロイヤル・ユニオン・サン=ジロワーズ)、瀬古歩夢(グラスホッパー)らの躍進もないとは限らない。それだけに、彼はさらにベースを引き上げる必要がある。

しかしながら、屈強で大柄な外国人FWが少ないJリーグの舞台で世界基準に磨きをかけていくのは難しいこと。それは谷口自身も理解している点だ。

「国内組、海外組と分けて見られることは多いですけど、力があれば間違いなく代表に入ってくる。もちろん代表は国際試合なので、他国の選手との対戦しかないですし、海外でやっている人の方が慣れの部分でアドバンテージはあるかもしれない。でも国内でやっていても、きちんとしたパフォーマンスを発揮していればチャンスはある。自分はJのチャンピオンチームのキャプテンとしてのプライドがありますし、『自分もできるんだぞ』というのを結果で証明していかないといけない」と彼は神妙な面持ちでコメントしていた。

この課題について、森保監督は「ボールを奪いに行く守備がどれだけできるかが大事。谷口は賢くクレバーに強いコンタクトを持ってボールを奪いに行くという部分にトライすることはできているが、世界トップ相手になると自由に持たせたら対応できない仕掛けをされてしまう。そこを普段より意識して取り組めるといい」と明確なテーマを設定。レベルアップを求めていた。

プレミアリーグにいる冨安のように、世界最高峰クラスのアタッカー陣と対峙できないJリーグ組には厳しい状況なのは間違いない。ただ、日常の中にも必ずできることはあるはず。それを探すのが、2022年J1における谷口の最重要テーマと言えるだろう。

もちろん川崎Fのリーグ3連覇、アジア・チャンピオンズリーグ(ACL)制覇などチームリーダーとして果たすべきタスクは少なくないが、7月に31歳となる彼にとってカタールW杯は最初で最後のチャンスかもしれない。ヴァイッド・ハリルホジッチ監督(現モロッコ代表)時代の2015年6月のイラク戦(日産)で初キャップを飾ってから足掛け8年。苦労と努力を重ねてようやくここまで辿り着いたのだから、何としても大舞台を辿り着くことが肝心。できることは全てやるべきだ。

熊本・大津高校時代の恩師・平岡和徳総監督も「J王者のチームで勝ち続ける重圧の中、戦い続けて、今の彼は肝が据わった印象です。代表活動で長友佑都(FC東京)と並んで先頭を走っているという話を聞いて、強い意気込みを感じました。彼はこの2連戦で新たな飛躍の入り口に立った。ここからが本当の勝負です」と力強いエールを送っていた。

「シュっとした2人」「高身長カップル」谷口彰悟がカタールでバッタリ遭遇した女性と笑顔で2ショット「がちでかっこいい」

「Mr.DOGSO」「なにさせてんのw」川崎FがGW企画で谷口彰悟を“DOGSO”イジり! カタールからご本人コメント「スタッフもイジってきちゃってるなぁ」

Jリーグが理念強化配分金とファン指標配分金の支給額を発表! 「DAZN」ベースのファン指標分配金の1位は浦和、最下位はYSCCに…連覇神戸は5.5億円

「後輩だけど人間的に先輩みたいな感じもある。。」パンサー尾形が中大の後輩・中村憲剛と2ショットを披露!共にサッカー部OB

田中碧が移籍濃厚のデュッセルドルフにまつわる思い出/六川亨の日本サッカーの歩み

川崎Fの田中碧がブンデスリーガ2部のデュッセルドルフへ移籍することが濃厚となっている。契約は1年間の期限付き移籍とのことだ。チームは6月26日から始まるACL1次リーグの集中開催地ウズベキスタンへ移動したが、田中碧は帯同せず、チームから離脱したと川崎Fは発表した。 遅かれ早かれというか、田中碧と三笘は東京五輪後に移籍すると思っていた。しかし五輪を目前に移籍を決めたのは意外だった。スポーツ紙などの報道によると、近日中にドイツへ渡るらしい。恐らくメディカルチェックなどの検査のためだろう。 そこで問題になるのは、田中碧は東京五輪に出るのかどうかだ。ブンデスリーガ2部は7月23日に開幕する。キャンプやプレシーズンマッチに参加するには、渡独してそのまま居残ることになるだろう。そうなれば、7月22日の五輪開幕戦、南アフリカ戦は欠場となる。 ただし、期限付き移籍で合意しても、「東京五輪のメンバーに選ばれたら五輪を優先する」という契約になっていれば問題はない。18名のメンバー発表は明日の14時なので、その時点で田中碧の今後が判明するだろう。 その田中碧が移籍するデュッセルドルフは、過去にも原口や宇佐美がプレーしたが、日本企業が多数進出し、日本人学校もあるヨーロッパでも有数の“日本人街”だ。 過去に2度ほど取材のベースキャンプとして滞在したことがある。最初は1988年のEUROを取材した際に滞在し、ここをベースにケルンやフランクフルト、ミュンヘン、ハンブルグなどへ足を伸ばした。 当時のEUROは8チームの大会だったため、かなりのんびりと取材できた思い出がある。とはいえ試合はいつも“緊張感”を伴っていた。なぜかというと「フーリガニズム」が全盛時代だったからだ。 グループA(西ドイツ、イタリア、スペイン、デンマーク)の初戦で地元西ドイツはイタリアと1-1で引き分けたが、試合会場のデュッセルドルフと駅周辺は平穏そのもの。ところがグループB(イングランド、オランダ、ソ連、アイルランド)の初戦でイングランドはアイルランドに、オランダはソ連にいずれも0-1で敗れた。 当日はケルンでのオランダ対ソ連戦を取材したが、試合後に少し遅れてケルン駅に向かうと、駅のガラスは粉々に砕け、路上にはいたるところに血痕がある。オランダのフーリガンが暴れた結果だとすぐにわかった。 そこで西ドイツはイングランドとオランダの試合になると、ハーフタイムにはビートルズの「愛こそはすべて」や「イエローサブマリン」など牧歌的なメドレーを流し、試合後は両チームのサポーターは会場に止め、先に対戦相手や地元のファン・サポーターを退場させる。スタンドが空席になってから、一角にまとめられたイングランドとオランダのファン・サポーターは駅への帰路につくが、その際も両脇を騎馬警官が囲んで商店を壊されないよう、寄り道をしないよう目を光らせていた。 イングランドのファン・サポーターからしてみれば、2年前のメキシコW杯ではガリー・リネカーが得点王になったし、ベスト8でアルゼンチンに敗れたものの1点はマラドーナの“神の手ゴール”による不正な得点だった。このため88年のEUROでは優勝を期待していた。しかし結果は3連敗の最下位で西ドイツを後にしなければならなかった。 ちなみに優勝したのはフリット、ファン・バステン、ライカールトを擁するオランダ。ソ連との決勝では後方からのロングボールをそのままボレーでGKダサエフを破ったファン・バステンの2点目は、いまなお20世紀最高のビューティフルゴールとして語り草になっている。 そして2度目の滞在は05年のコンフェデレーションズカップだった。なぜデュッセルドルフに滞在したかというと、隣国オランダでワールドユースが開催されていて(大熊監督で、GK西川周作、本田圭祐、家長昭博、平山相太らがいた)、日本の試合会場であるケルクラーデはデュッセルドルフとは目と鼻の先だった。このためレンタカーで両都市間を行き来した。 現在もあるかどうか不明だが、デュッセルドルフの繁華街には三越デュッセルドルフがあり、そこの1階にある昔ながらの床屋で髪の毛を切った記憶がある。日本人駐在員の主婦が談笑しながら街を歩き、日本の食材専門のスーパーマーケットもあった。鉄板焼きや寿司屋、定食屋に加え、当時は「なにわ」というラーメン屋がオープンしたばかりで、人気になっていると聞いて並んだものだ。 日本人にとって過ごしやすい都市がデュッセルドルフでもある。ただし、だからといってドイツ語や英語など語学を学んで監督やチームメイトと意思の疎通を図らないと、ヨーロッパで長くプレーすることはできないことをGK川島やDF吉田が証明している。 2021.06.21 21:00 Mon
