アストン・ビラの新指揮官に就任したスティーブン・ジェラード監督が古巣の主力を引き抜くようだ。イギリス『デイリー・レコード』が報じている。

成績不振を理由にディーン・スミス前監督を解任したビラは、11日にレンジャーズからジェラード監督の引き抜きに成功した。

リバプールのレジェンドの下で16位からの巻き返しを図るチームは、前線に多くのタレントを擁することもあり、今冬の移籍市場では失点が目立つ守備陣や中盤の補強が見込まれる。
そういった中、現時点での補強候補筆頭はレンジャーズのフィンランド代表MFグレン・カマラ(26)のようだ。

アーセナルのユース出身のカマラは、2015–16シーズンのEFLカップのシェフィールド・ウェンズデイ戦でトップチームデビュー。だが、以降はトップチームでプレー機会は与えられず、2017年にダンディーに完全移籍。その後、2019年からレンジャーズでプレーしている。
ジェラード監督の下では守備的MFの主力として公式戦120試合以上に出場し、高いフィジカル能力を生かした守備と推進力のあるプレーで印象的な活躍を続けていた。

ビラはジェラード監督を招へいする以前から同選手の獲得に動いていた過去もあり、『デイリー・レコード』は獲得の可能性は高いと考えているようだ。

アストン・ビラがスタジアム改修をスタート、ユーロ2028の会場となり5万人収容に変貌へ
