アーセナルがエジプト代表MFモハメド・エルネニー(28)の契約延長について準備を進めているようだ。イギリス『デイリー・メール』が報じている。
2016年冬にバーゼルからアーセナルへ加入したエルネニー。アーセン・ヴェンゲル監督の下ではコンスタントに出場機会を得ていたものの、2018-19シーズンに就任したウナイ・エメリ監督の下では序列が下がり戦力外が公言されていた。
昨シーズンはベシクタシュへとレンタル移籍を果たすと、スュペル・リグで27試合に出場し1ゴール4アシスト、ヨーロッパリーグでも6試合でプレーしていた。
2021年夏に契約満了を迎えるエルネニーは今夏の退団が濃厚と目されていたが、今シーズンはレンタルバックでアーセナルの一員に。すると、ミケル・アルテタ監督の下で序列が上がり、今シーズンはここまで公式戦9試合でプレー。広い守備範囲で中盤を締めるプレーを見せている。
