イングランド代表のリー・カーズリー暫定監督が勝利を振り返った。『UEFA.com』が伝えた。UEFAネーションズリーグ(UNL)のリーグB・グループ2を戦うイングランド。3勝1敗で2位につけるなか、14日の第5節では首位に立つギリシャ代表とのアウェイゲームに臨んだ。

コンディション不良により多数の選手が辞退したイングランド。しかし、FWノニ・マドゥエケの右サイドからの折り返しをFWオリー・ワトキンスが押し込んで7分に先制する。
GKジョーダン・ピックフォードのファインセーブもありながら後半へ入ると、78分にはMFジュード・ベリンガムのミドルの跳ね返りがGKに当たってオウンゴール。終盤には代表デビューのMFカーティス・ジョーンズが巧みなヒールシュートでダメ押しをし、3-0の勝利を収めた。

勝ち点「12」でギリシャに並び、首位に浮上したイングランド。カーズリー暫定監督は最後の指揮となる17日の第6節アイルランド代表戦前の快勝を喜んだ。
「この結果は我々が正しい方向に進んでいる証拠だ。浮かれすぎないようにする。日曜にはウェンブリーでビッグゲームがあるからそれを楽しみにしている。今は回復し、そこに向けて準備することが重要だ」

「選手たちが自分の強みを発揮することが重要だった。我々には素晴らしい才能を持った選手がたくさんいる。ここにいなかった選手たちについては… 我々はここにいた選手たちに集中した。昨日は選手たちにチャンスを与えることについて話したが、今夜はそれを達成できた」

また、代表デビュー戦でいきなりゴールを奪ったカーティス・ジョーンズにも言及。手放しで称賛した。

「驚くことではない。カーティスは傑出した選手だ。ゴールがなかったとしても、今日は本当に良いプレーをしたと思う。ゴールも決めて素晴らしいパフォーマンスだった。彼のためにも本当に嬉しい」

さらに、途中出場で同じく初キャップを刻んだDFルイス・ホールやFWモーガン・ロジャーズについてもコメント。プレミアリーグでのパフォーマンスを代表に持ち込んでくれたと振り返っている。

「昨夜、チームの経験不足についての声が聞かれたが、ここにいる選手たちは毎週プレミアリーグで非常に高いレベルでプレーしている。ルイスがあのような雰囲気の中で出場し、ああいったパフォーマンスを発揮できたのは彼とニューカッスルの功績だ」

「モーガン・ロジャーズも同様だ。アストン・ビラで本当に良いプレーをしているし、もっと早くスカッドに加わっていてもおかしくなかった」

フランスW杯の戦犯が…ベッカム史上最高のFKから20年「特別な瞬間だった」

元ユナイテッドSDがFAに復帰…新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任

元マンチェスター・ユナイテッドのスポーツディレクター(SD)、ダン・アシュワース氏が、イングランドサッカー協会(FA)に復帰することになった。 FAは14日、アシュワース氏が新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任すると発表。同職ではイングランド代表の男女チームと緊密に連携していくことになるという。 昨年12月にユナイテッドのSDをわずか5カ月で退任したアシュワース氏。それ以前にはブライトン&ホーヴ・アルビオン、ニューカッスルで手腕を発揮しており、国内外のクラブからのオファーも想定されていたが、2018年まで6年間に渡って勤務していたFAに復帰することになった。 アシュワース氏は、セント・ジョージズ・パークの再開発を監督し、2028年に開催されるユーロ2028の共催に向け、競技施設とピッチの改善を目指す。 さらに、この新役職は、男子フットボールのテクニカルディレクターであるジョン・マクダーモット氏と緊密に連携するとともに、FAの最高経営責任者(CEO)であるマーク・ブリンガム氏とも連携する。 また、イングランド国内の地元出身のコーチの育成にも携わる予定だという。 2025.05.15 16:30 Thu
