アル・ナスルは1月31日、アストン・ビラからコロンビア代表FWジョン・デュラン(21)を完全移籍で獲得したことを発表した。背番号は「9」に決定している。なお、移籍市場に精通するファブリツィオ・ロマーノ記者によると、移籍金は7700万ユーロ(約123億2000万円)+アドオンとなる見込みだ。
母国コロンビアのエンビガドでプロキャリアをスタートし、シカゴ・ファイアーを経て2023年冬のビラ入りで欧州初上陸となったデュラン。同じポジションにオリー・ワトキンスの存在もあるなか、主にジョーカー役を担い通算78試合で20得点をマーク。
とりわけ、今シーズンは台頭著しく、公式戦29試合で12ゴールの数字を残していた。今後はヨーロッパのメガクラブへのステップアップの可能性も取り沙汰されたが、破格のサラリーという魅力もあってサウジアラビアへの移籍を決断。今後はクリスティアーノ・ロナウド、サディオ・マネらとの超強力なアタッキングユニットを組むことになった。
