セルティックの日本代表FW前田大然がスコットランドPFA年間最優秀選手賞を受賞した。日本人3人目の受賞者となる。今シーズンも圧倒的な強さを見せたセルティックは、スコティッシュ・プレミアシップで4連覇を達成。シーズン3冠の可能性を残している状況だ。
前田はゴールを量産しており、ここまでリーグ戦32試合で16ゴール10アシストを記録。公式戦では、48試合で33ゴール12アシストと圧倒的な成績を残していた。
前田はチームメイトであるMFカラム・マクレガー、FWニコライ・トゥーン、ダンディーFCのサイモン・マレーと共に最終候補に残っていた。
なお、日本人選手としては2007年に中村俊輔、2023年に古橋亨梧(スタッド・レンヌ)が受賞しており、日本人として3人目の受賞者となった。
またチームメイトからの投票もあったなか「チームメイトに選ばれたことは感謝したい」とコメント。ファンからも選ばれての受賞には「加入当初は厳しい声もありましたし、それが力になったので、逆に感謝しています」とコメントした。

「知らなかったからビックリした」セルティック加入井手口陽介の上半身タトゥーに驚きの声

「衝撃的でした」中村俊輔の“伝説FK”が今なお反響「GK一歩も動けず」

中村俊輔氏がCLユナイテッド戦で決めた伝説のFKがセルティック過去20年のベストゴールに選出! 本人はビデオメッセージ「大変光栄」
