ビラと新契約を結んだモーガン・ロジャーズ

アストン・ビラは19日、イングランド代表MFモーガン・ロジャーズ(22)の契約延長を発表した。新たな契約期間は2030年6月までとなる。

ウェスト・ブロムウィッチ・アルビオン下部組織育ちのアタッカー、ロジャーズ。2019年8月にマンチェスター・シティへ移り、リンカーン・シティやボーンマス、ブラックプールへのレンタル移籍を経験した。

シティでのファーストチーム昇格は叶わず、2023年7月にミドルズブラへ完全移籍。マイケル・キャリック監督のもと、ウイングや攻撃的MFなど前線のさまざまなポジションをこなした。

半年間でチャンピオンシップ(イングランド2部)の26試合に出場し、2ゴール6アシストをマーク。2024年2月にアストン・ビラへステップアップした。

2023-24シーズン後半は新天地でウナイ・エメリ監督の信頼を掴み、プレミアリーグ初挑戦ながら11試合3ゴール1アシストを記録。今シーズンは開幕からレギュラーの座を守り、ここまでリーグ戦で11試合3ゴール2アシスト、チャンピオンズリーグ(CL)で4試合1アシストの結果を残している。

11月は多くの選手が辞退したイングランド代表に追加招集。14日のギリシャ代表戦で初キャップを獲得し、17日のアイルランド代表戦にも途中出場した。
