CONCACAFネーションズリーグ決勝のメキシコ代表vsアメリカ代表が現地時間24日に開催され、2-0で勝利したアメリカが大会3連覇を達成した。立ち上がり5分のアメリカはゴールエリア内左でフリーとなったクリスチャン・プリシックがシュート。だが、至近距離でのフィニッシュは、GKギジェルモ・オチョアにスーパーセーブに阻まれる。
対するメキシコも22分、ルイス・チャベスがゴール正面でのコントロールから左足を振り抜くが、こちらも守護神マット・ターナーが手中に収めた。
試合が動いたのは前半も終わろうかという45分だった。
アメリカはセットプレー崩れから二次攻撃を仕掛けると、左のウェストン・マッケニーが足の長い横パスを中央に通し、敵陣中央でフリーとなっていたタイラー・アダムスが右足を一閃。30m越えの強烈な弾丸ミドルを左隅へと突き刺した。
プリシックがおしゃれなコントロールでウリエル・アントゥナを抜き去り、左サイドを突破すると、クロスはクリアされるも、こぼれ球にいち早く反応したジョバンニ・レイナがボックス内左から右足でのボレーシュート。狭いニアを射抜き、リードを広げた。
2点を追い掛けるメキシコは72分、途中出場のサンティアゴ・ヒメネスがアントニー・ロビンソンとの競り合い時にボックス内で倒れ、PKを獲得する。
だが、VARからの進言とオン・フィールド・レビュー(OFR)の結果、コンタクトはなかったことが確認され、主審はヒメネスのシミュレーションに判定を変更した。
以降も猛追のメキシコをアメリカがシャットアウトし、2-0の完封勝ち。3度目の栄冠を手にしている。

次回W杯の主役に?アメリカ代表を選んだバログン、自身と家族の強い願いを実現「みんなが思っている以上に多くの意味がある」
アメリカ代表を選択したスタッド・ランスのFWフォラリン・バログンが、その経緯を明かした。アメリカサッカー連盟(USSF)が伝えた。 アーセナルの下部組織出身のバログンは、2022年1月にミドルズブラにレンタル移籍。2022年8月にスタッド・ランスにレンタル移籍した。 今シーズンのリーグ・アンでは34試合に出場し19ゴールの活躍を見せ、来シーズンの去就が大きく注目されることに。アーセナルに復帰するのか、他クラブへ移籍するのか、今夏の移籍市場を賑わす存在となっている。 そのバログンは、16日にイングランドからアメリカへの代表チーム選択の変更を申請。国際サッカー連盟(FIFA)から承認され、今後はアメリカ代表としてプレーが可能になった。 世代別代表では1度アメリカ代表のユニフォームを身に纏っていたが、それ以外はイングランド代表を選択。U-21欧州選手権に出場する可能性もあった。 アメリカを選択したバログンは、その理由について言及。家族揃って望んでいたことだと明かした。 「アメリカを代表するという僕の決断は家族と一緒に決めた。僕たちは生まれた国を代表することが、僕にとって正しいことであると判断した」 「最終的には考えるまでもないことだったけど、確かにこれは僕が望んでいたことであり、ここにいるとまるで家にいる気分なんだ」 「家族にこのニュースを伝えた時、みんな、特に母親は大喜びだった。『何にそんなに時間がかかったの?』と聞かれたので、僕たちは同じ認識だったみたいだ」 「そしてその会話の後、僕は代理人にメッセージを送り、『実現させよう』と言ったんだ」 バログンはニューヨーク出身。ナイジェリア人の両親の元に生まれ、アメリカ、ナイジェリア、イングランドの3カ国でプレーすることが可能だった。 その中でアメリカ代表を選択した理由は大きいとし、全てを捧げると意気込みを語った。 「アメリカを代表することは、みんなが思っている以上に多くの意味がある。このような機会をもらえたことをとても誇りに思い、光栄に思っている。チームに成功をもたらすため、自分の持つ力を全て出し切りたいと思う」 また、2026年のW杯はアメリカでも開催。このまま招集を受けて主軸となれば、自身初のW杯出場を自国で迎えることとなる。 「実現するのであれば、あまりにも出来過ぎだね。アメリカでワールドカップが開催されることも本当にクレイジーだけど、開催国になって初めてワールドカップに出られるなら、全てが上手く纏まりすぎだ。でも、いくつかのことは、そうなるように意図されている」 2023.05.18 15:45 Thu
