元プロバスケットボール選手のシャキール・オニール氏と、同デニス・ロッドマン氏の娘、サッカーのアメリカ女子代表FWトリニティ・ロッドマンの対決が話題を呼んだ。アメリカ女子代表は現在、SheBelieves Cup2024へ向け、ジョージア州アトランタで合宿中。ワシントン・スピリット所属のトリニティもメンバー入りを果たしている。
そのトリニティはFWジェイディン・ショー(サンディエゴ・ウェーブFC)とともに、3日にNBAのTNTスタジオを訪問。同局のスポーツ評論家を務めているオニール氏と、PK対決を行った。
ゴールを守るのは216cm、147kgのオニール氏。トリニティも178cmと、女子サッカー選手の中では高身長だが、オニール氏の醸し出す迫力は桁違いだ。
最初のキッカーを担ったトリニティはかなり強いシュートを狙ったが、あっさりとオニール氏に止められてしまった。
なお、PK対決は3人目を務めたショーが左隅へ沈め、サッカー選手の面目を躍如。トリニティとショー、両選手はなでしこジャパン戦ではどのようなパフォーマンスを披露するだろうか。
なでしこvsアメリカは日本時間6日の25:37にキックオフ。JFATVでのライブ配信を予定している。

「ニールセン・グレースノート」は出場する選手の中での、インフルエンサーとしてのランキングを発表。フォロワーやフォロワーの増加、エンゲージメント率など、インスタグラム上の投稿ごとの平均ブランド価値を評価してランキングを発表した。 トップ10が発表され、実に9カ国の選手がランクイン。アメリカ女子代表のみが唯一2選手がランクインしている。 1位に輝いたのは、アストン・ビラでプレーするスイス女子代表のアリーシャ・レーマン。世界一セクシーなアスリートとしても知られ、インスタグラムのフォロワーは1340万人。元プロテニスプレーヤーのロジャー・フェデラーを超え、インスタグラムで最も人気のあるスイス人アスリートとなっている。 「ペプシの宣伝か?」アメリカが新ユニフォームを発表も、アウェイのカラーには既視感を覚える人も「アイスキャンディーみたいなユニフォーム」

アメリカ女子代表の16歳MFはなでしこ戦でのデビューはあるか、UWCLでは熊谷紗希&南萌華とも対戦
