イングランド女子代表はメリハリのあるキャンプを過ごしているようだ。2022年に母国開催された女子欧州選手権(ユーロ)で初の大会制覇を成し遂げたイングランド。2015年カナダ大会は3位、2019年フランス大会は4位という成績を残し、ヨーロッパチャンピオンとして臨むオーストラリア&ニュージーランド女子ワールドカップ(W杯)では、リア・ウィリアムソン(アーセナル)ら一部主力をケガで招集できないという逆境はありながらも、優勝候補の一角に挙げられている。

イングランドにとっては地球の裏側に近い土地で催される大会へ向け、ライオネセス(イングランド女子代表の愛称)は早期の7日に現地入り。オーストラリアのサンシャイン・コーストにベースキャンプ地を構えている。
トレーニングの合間には現地を堪能。力強い突破力が武器の左ウイング、ローレン・ヘンプ(マンチェスター・シティ)はコアラを抱く姿やカンガルーと戯れる姿を自身のインスタグラムで公開した。

9カ月ぶりの代表サプライズ復帰となったベサニー・イングランド(トッテナム)は、イギリス『90min』で「スイッチをオフにするときには役に立つ」と、優美な海岸線や自然との触れ合いが疲れを癒してくれると語っている。
「イギリスと違ってここは全てから遠く離れていて、人と話す時間も異なるし、すべてがマネジメントされています。その分、自身にフォーカスし、集中して考える時間はたくさんあると思います」

「そして平和です。勝負のためにここにいるわけなので、”休暇モード”という表現は相応しくないかもしれませんが、スイッチをオフにするときにはとても落ち着きますし、役に立ちます」

8月20日の決勝戦まで勝ち進んだ場合には、およそ2カ月間の長期滞在となるイングランド。効果的なリフレッシュも取り入れ、目指すは初のファイナル進出、そして頂点だ。

なお、イングランドはグループDに属し、22日にハイチ女子代表、28日にデンマーク女子代表、8月1日に中国女子代表と、グループステージで対戦する。

フランスW杯の戦犯が…ベッカム史上最高のFKから20年「特別な瞬間だった」

イングランド代表のユニフォームが変? ファンが気づいた異変はベテランキットマンのまさかのミス…「間違ってしまった」

元ユナイテッドSDがFAに復帰…新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任

元マンチェスター・ユナイテッドのスポーツディレクター(SD)、ダン・アシュワース氏が、イングランドサッカー協会(FA)に復帰することになった。 FAは14日、アシュワース氏が新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任すると発表。同職ではイングランド代表の男女チームと緊密に連携していくことになるという。 昨年12月にユナイテッドのSDをわずか5カ月で退任したアシュワース氏。それ以前にはブライトン&ホーヴ・アルビオン、ニューカッスルで手腕を発揮しており、国内外のクラブからのオファーも想定されていたが、2018年まで6年間に渡って勤務していたFAに復帰することになった。 アシュワース氏は、セント・ジョージズ・パークの再開発を監督し、2028年に開催されるユーロ2028の共催に向け、競技施設とピッチの改善を目指す。 さらに、この新役職は、男子フットボールのテクニカルディレクターであるジョン・マクダーモット氏と緊密に連携するとともに、FAの最高経営責任者(CEO)であるマーク・ブリンガム氏とも連携する。 また、イングランド国内の地元出身のコーチの育成にも携わる予定だという。 2025.05.15 16:30 Thu
