コーラは有効? 嫌ったC・ロナウドは敗退も、イングランド代表は試合後に摂取とコーチが語る

ユーロ2020でベスト4進出を懸けて戦うイングランド代表。その躍進を支えているのは、今大会話題のあの飲み物のようだ。

ユーロ2020はピッチ内での激闘はもちろんのこと、ピッチ外でも話題を事欠かない。最初に注目を集めたのは、ポルトガル代表FWクリスティアーノ・ロナウドだ。

初戦のハンガリー代表戦に向けた記者会見にキャプテンとして出席したC・ロナウド。会見が始まる前に着席したC・ロナウドは、おもむろに自身の前に置かれたペットボトルに手を伸ばし、コカ・コーラのペットボトルを自分の前から退けた。

そして、水のペットボトルを掲げて「アグア(ポルトガル語で水)。コカ・コーラ…」と発言。自身が好まないソフトドリンクよりも水が良いと主張していた。

その後、ボトルをめぐっては、宗教上の理由からフランス代表MFポール・ポグバがハイネケンの瓶を避けると、イタリア代表MFマヌエル・ロカテッリもコカ・コーラを水に置き換えていた。

悪い意味でフィーチャーされることとなったコカ・コーラ。ユーロ2020をスポンサードしており、常に記者会見のテーブル上に置かれているものだ。

C・ロナウドが移動したことで、コカ・コーラの株価が下がり40億ドル(約4400億円)の損失とも言われたほど影響力があったが、C・ロナウドに反対意見が出てきた。

ドイツ『ビルト』によると、コーラの摂取について悪いことばかりではないとのこと。イングランド代表のコーチであるクリス・パウエル氏が選手の回復に効果的であるとの見解を示した。

「試合のストレスで選手の糖分は空っぽだ。選手はエネルギーに変換される糖分をたくさん含んでいるコーラを飲むべきだ」

「より早く満たされることになる。コーラは回復のためにも重要だ」

イングランド代表は試合後に2つのチームバスに分かれるが、そないのでぞれソフトドリンクが積み込まれるとのこと。スタジアムからホテルや空港に戻る間、キャプテンでもあるFWハリー・ケインは500mlのコーラを多い時2本を飲むことがあるようだ。

また、ラウンド16のフランス代表vsスイス代表では、PK戦の前にスイス代表MFグラニト・ジャカがコーラを飲んでいる姿が確認されており、回復には良いとされており、長距離ランナーも炭酸抜きのコーラを回復のために飲むことがある。

ドイツ代表との激闘を終えてウクライナ代表との準々決勝に臨むイングランドだが、コーラを飲むケインは2試合連発となるだろうか。

なお、ウクライナのFWアンドリー・ヤルモレンコはコカ・コーラへの愛情を記者会見で示しており、コーラパワーはどちらも有しているようだ。

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】

イングランド代表のユニフォームが変? ファンが気づいた異変はベテランキットマンのまさかのミス…「間違ってしまった」
