▽元イングランド代表で現在はイギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』で解説者を務めるギャリー・リネカー氏が、独特の言い回しでドイツ代表を称えた。自身のツイッター公式アカウント(@GaryLineker)上に投稿している。

▽23日、ロシア・ワールドカップ(W杯)グループF第2節のドイツ代表vsスウェーデン代表が行われ、ドイツが2-1で勝利した。初戦を落としており負ければ敗戦濃厚、引き分けても自力突破消滅という崖っぷちの状況で試合に臨んだドイツ。試合開始直後の攻勢が実らずスウェーデンに痛恨の先制点を許すと、後半初めにMFマルコ・ロイスの得点で追いついたものの試合終了間際にDFジェローム・ボアテングが退場してしまう事態に。しかし、アディショナルタイムに入った95分にMFトニ・クロースが決勝点を沈め、劇的な生還を果たした。

▽この試合を観戦していたリネカー氏は、以下のようにドイツの強さを表現した。
「フットボールはシンプルなゲームだ。22人の男たちが82分間ボールを追いかけて、ドイツ人たちが退場者を出して13分間は21人がボールを追いかける。そして、最後にはドイツがこうやってクソ勝ちやがる」

▽リネカー氏は、現役選手として参加した1990年のイタリアW杯準決勝ドイツ戦でPK戦の末に敗れた際にも、「フットボールというのは単純なスポーツだ。22人の男たちが90分間ボールを追いかける。そして、最後にはドイツが勝つ」というコメントを残していた。今回のドイツの試合を目の当たりして、自身の過去の名言をアップデートせざるを得なかったようだ。

相手が恐れる右手…ストライカーの完成形と呼ばれた男、アラン・シアラー

「イタリア国歌にブーイングしないで」初優勝目指すイングランド代表のレジェンドがファンに呼びかける

レスター応援のために仕事を辞めたリネカー、ELも家族と生観戦

「これはどっちも買う」「素敵すぎ」ドイツ代表のW杯ユニが大好評!ホームは1908年をモチーフに

日本はスペイン&ドイツと同居、初戦はドイツ戦《カタールW杯》

批判も受けたドイツ代表ユニフォームに問題…ナチスの「SS」に類似との指摘を受け「4」のフォントを変更、アディダスは購入中止に
