横浜F・マリノスの監督は噂の人物で決まりのようだ。イギリス『ミラー』が報じた。

ハリー・キューウェル前監督の途中解任にジョン・ハッチンソン暫定監督発足と厳しいシーズンの終わりが見えてくるなか、新監督招へいの動きが取り沙汰される横浜FM。そこで名が浮かぶのが前イングランド代表ヘッドコーチのスティーブ・ホランド氏(54)だ。

トップチームの指揮官歴こそクルー・アレクサンドラ時代だけだが、参謀役としては経験豊富で、直近ではあのガレス・サウスゲイト前監督の右腕として従事。それ以前はチェルシーでジョゼ・モウリーニョ氏やアントニオ・コンテ氏らのアシスタントコーチを歴任した。
かつてのサウスゲイト前監督は「イングランドサッカー界、あるいはコーチのなかで最も成功した監督になるはず。彼ほどの勝利を手にした人、クラブや国際レベルの経験を持つ人はほかに浮かばない。トップクラスのオペレーターだ」との称賛コメントも残す。

遠くイングランドでも横浜FM入りが濃厚視され、『ミラー』は合意とともに「サウスゲイトの信頼できる盟友がマンチェスター・シティ所有のクラブで2度目の監督就任」との見出しでレポート。「横浜FMの監督に就任する準備が整った」と日本行きが決定的との見方を示す。
また、『The Athletic』でもその見込みといい、ホランド氏にとって16年ぶりの監督就任が近づいていると報じられる。

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】

フランスW杯の戦犯が…ベッカム史上最高のFKから20年「特別な瞬間だった」
