元リバプール主将は昨夏に流行りと化すサウジアラビア行きを決断したが、水が合わず。リバプールOBのスティーブン・ジェラード監督と共演の移籍だったが、半年が経ったばかりのところでアル・イテファクとの契約を破棄する形でアヤックス入りを果たした。
サウジアラビア行きは自身がLGBTQ+の権利に関する著名な支持者ということで、それがご法度の国に渡るという決断に批判が集まっての決断だったが、今では間違いだったと感じるようだ。
イギリス『デイリー・メール』によると、33歳MFはオランダメディア『Parool』で過ちを認めた。
「フットボールが自分の血として通っているのに気づいたんだ。サウジリーグは発展を遂げているけど、僕には合わなかった。あそこに行ったのは間違いだった。ここではアヤックスのプロジェクトに満足している」

「懐かしい2ショット!」「エモい」小野伸二がフェイエノールト帰還! 懐かしのチームメイトと笑顔で再会「この再会は熱い」

ベルカンプの名ゴールが紙幣に! 98年W杯のスーパーゴールが描かれた8ユーロ紙幣が誕生
